Holy smokes, I didn't realize I just passed 10 years here last month. Of course that's only one sixth of my life, not near as large a portion as many SSPers.

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary in August. However with a newborn we really didn't do anything. Our kiddos are being taken care of during fall break and we wanted to get away. I wanted to check out Dayton, OH. Neither of us have ever been. It's only a 2 1/2 hour drive from Indy. We have done Cincinnati several times. Even Toledo once. Anyone here have any suggestions on what to check out? What parts of the city do we avoid??

Thank you in advance.

I just saw that it's home of the Wright Patterson AFB National Museum. As an Air Force vet myself I would love to check that out. Of course the wife is trying to trump me by saying it's not "romantic".

We signed Aidan up for martial arts. Tonight was his first class. I cannot get a certain song out of my head! Told him we would watch The Karate Kid this weekend. He's 6.

The Air Force Museum is amazing. It's also huge in scope and it might be too easy to spend enough time there to really annoy your wife.

The Art Institute kicks butt for its setting, its building, and its collections and exhibits, plus a good overview of the city. I'm pretty sure it has a cafe, but I don't know what the hours are.

The Schuster Center, right downtown, is worth at least a walk-through just for the architecture.

The Oregon District offers historic charm and character.

If the weather is excellent and you want to get into the country, I suggest Carriage Hill Farm. It's part of Five Rivers Metroparks and not far from downtown.

You can browse my various photo collections from Dayton here.

And just an FYI, Dayton is only 1.5 hours from Indianapolis. Columbus is a 2 1/2 hour drive.

I must say, it's fucking weird hearing "you're everything I've ever dreamt of in a guy" and "I'm just not ready for a relationship and need to find out where I'm going in life" in the same conversation. Totally blindsided, but at least it's better than the "I'm pregnant" I was 90% sure I was going to hear.

Now for this god damn week of hell writing several papers, quizzes, and assignments.

I wish there were some way to convey to a woman to tell us that she is NOT pregnant before saying "we need to talk." Pins and needles!
