Dekalb Farmers Market To Expand From 140,000 Square Feet Into 518,000 Square Foot Meg

Dekalb Farmers Market To Expand From 140,000 Square Feet Into 518,000 Square Foot Mega Market!

This is going to be amazing.

http://www.ajc.com/news/sweet-auburn-dekalb-farmers-1432652.html

I have even heard plans that a lot of it would be open air with live food to purchase such as pigs, goat, and lamb. They slaughter it and you take it home. Yuk, not a fan of that.

That is nuts about the farmers market. That place is already huge. Can you imagine 4 of those all under one roof?

In addition to all the residential infill, there are all sorts of other projects going on with university expansions, new hotels and hotel renovations, new government buildings, the streetcar, etc etc.

Here are the pics:

North Point Hospitality's 116 key Hilton Garden Inn/110 key Homewood Suits dual-branded hotel at 10th and Williams. Will include podium parking and a 400-seat restaurant on ground floor.

Cafe Agora's Midtown location opening soon (hard to see but interior buildout mostly done). Rumored to be 24 hours.

Random infill that probably won't happen next to Blake's on Piedmont.

12th and Park luxury apartments coming soon...

The site of a park that Jamestown will help fund on its land next to the John Marshall School of Law on W Peachtree.

The Atlantic is now rentals. 324 units - ranging from $1650-$5400/mo.

Teknion's awesome space in base of BB&T Tower in Atlantic Station.

Vickery's progressing - will be a seafood concept operated by Fifth Group.

Village at Buckhead (I'm not impressed at all)

92 West Paces Ferry

Camden's new 376 development on East Andrews will include a 7 floor tower above 2 level parking podium, a 5 floor building surrounding a garage, and then 3-4 floor townhomes. Fence is up and demolition is pending for a summer construction start.

CDC's Buford Highway Campus is building more buildings, including this 9 floor one topped off.

Dresden Dr is having an infill boom and Hines is set to start construction on their development soon as part of their foray back into multifamily development.

The site across the street:

Emory Pointe will be ready for occupancy in August and will feature about 50 floorplans that will rent at $1.80-$1.95/sf. 80,000 SF retail already largely leased up and phase II of the apartments will begin soon.

Emory Health Sciences Research Building

Site of planned 4 floor $93M 200,000 SF Georgia Tech Engineering Biosystem Building at 10th and State/Atlantic

Hank McCamish Pavilion

New Subway on 14th

PCM

Site of NAP planned development

2061 Peachtree MOB

Skyhouse...this thing is shooting up!

My next update won't be for a couple months most likely and I'm going to try to confine it to Midtown and intown areas. I can't stand going up to Buckhead any longer as the traffic is too bad.
Thanks, looks great! There is just so much going on in the city. It's a wonderful sight!

Thanks for the update! I always love to see unexpected construction like this. It's good to see low/midrise with retail included, off the beaten path. I also like the attempt at more complete and "tighter" urbanism that I've been seeing on here lately.

100 6th Street: New Novare Tower

Atlanta developer Novare Group is proposing a 23-story mixed-use tower with up to 320 apartment units in Midtown.

The project, known as 100 6th Street, would take shape near the intersection of Juniper and next door to Viewpoint, a condo tower Novare developed.

The site is the former home of establishments including Loca Luna and McCray's Sixth Street Tavern.

That [no] construction site has been idle for a while. Even if they're completed anytime in the near future, seriously doubt they'll sell near those prices. Not a smart project choice by the developer.

Saw preliminary renderings for Viewpoint II. Expect Skyhouse on 6th. Even with the massive garage, they are well under the maximum limit for that site (perhaps it is time for the city to revisit code/parking ratios). The corner of 6th and Peachtree is not going to have anything, and is a carved out parcel. It may include "short term" parking at some point (bla).

Am looking at renderings of Cafe Intermezzo now. I made a mistake in reporting it would be north of the 1010 residents' entrance, and will in fact be at 11th and Peachtree in 1065 P'tree (Loews building). The design looks nice and will be semi-outdoor seating when weather permits. Quite impressed. Will open "November 26" if schedule permits.

Will have an update on Mi Cocina later (assuming they show).

Oh...saw Gilbert's plans (I'm working in the back of the DRC meeting right now). The plans look ok and have room for improvement...and they will be imoroved I think.

Anyone know where a plan view of 100 6th st? I want to know exactly where the garage is and how large. Bizarre they are cutting out a parcel at 6th/Peachtree--maybe a future tower site?

The 320 unit building will be mixed use with retail on the ground floor, but there’s already been questions raised over whether the parking deck next to it will receive something at street level other than mostly blank walls, á la the Spring Street facade of Novare’s SkyHouse apartments now under construction. Also, when’s Novare going to get around to restoring the empty Neel Reid apartment building behind Starbucks? At any rate, it’s safe to say that Midtown’s well poised to exploit the growing demand for city living, so don’t expect construction to let up anytime soon.

There will be 30 ft bays on 6th St if I heard that correctly, and 2 bays flanking either side of the garage entrance on Juniper. There will be a pocket park at 7th and Juniper? And a non-active use/blank wall on 7th where there will be another entrance to the garage. The garage will literally take up half of the block, and will be half the height of the Viewpoint podium, making for an awkward situation. The parcel carved out at 6th and Peachtree is by no means large enough for a tower and hardly for anything at all. It's a shame.

They will have a hard time leasing the retail, especially on Juniper, but I'm still glad we require it by code. It was said that something like 592 spaces were the maximum allowed by zoning for the site and they'll only be constructing 476...but figure 320 units and 15,000 SF of retail (probably mostly restaurant which has the highest parking requirements) and you're looking at about 1.25 spaces per unit and ~5 spaces per 1,000 SF retail/restaurant. I don't know the unit mix, but at 1.25 spaces per unit they may want to consider 250 1BRs and Studios and the remaining as 2 BRs, no 3 BRs (Jim Borders did say it was geared for the 25-34 single crowd).

I'm torn because I know what it takes to make this project work from a financial standpoint (and it's basically what they are planning), and I'm all for higher density and getting rid of vacant lots, BUT I just don't like this project and I'm worried 15-20 years from now that nothing will be able to be done to adapt the block to a denser, more urban Atlanta (and we'll be stuck with this thing ON Peachtree).

I'm fine with Skyhouse for where it is. I'm fine if this were a block off Peachtree...but this is practically ON Peachtree. It's not worthy of being on a block that fronts Peachtree, in my opinion.

I hear ya. It is awful. The design is awful and not Peachtree worthy. It is just going to turn out cheap looking like Twelve Centennial. Novare and Jim Borders are only concerned about money and pushing their cookie cutter model. Nothing else.

I'm guessing they are going to do a shrink the box approach and squeeze the sizes as much as they can. Expect 70% to be Studios/1/1 and dens.
