^^ I'm pretty sure Pacific/Expo/Lower Nelson is going to have a series of separated bike lanes that better connect the seawall with the new Cambie bridge setup. At the centre of that island looks to be an asphalt separated bike lane that would be part of that network.

Not sure about the timeline of it - pretty sure it's under design currently, but we did see a blurry draft drawing somewhere back in this thread.

What are owners being told about possession dates for Arc? It's going to be a big boost to the area, that number of units being occupied at once.

That's a good point.

I have been staring at this building never considering how large the floor plate is and how many units must actually be in it.

There are 588 units. One Pacific across the street has 435, and the two Max towers have 526.

Yeah, it looks weird right now because the asphalt path leads right into traffic!

PS - note the very lonely tree in the middle of the Island. Green foliage would have stood out more and some pine shrubs would have been durable enough to survive there.

That's crazy.

588 units, wow. Good luck to that strata council.

Here are some more pics of the island that I took about a month ago. I think I hesitated to post them because it made my brain hurt to look at them and try to figure out what's going on.

If that's for a future bike lane then why does it go right into a sidewalk. Makes no sense

Not sure it will help but if you click on the source link under the image in officedweller's post below you'll see a couple of diagrams with the island at the top.

Hopefully that island gets some planters or something. It looks really cold and drab.

The concrete cuts around this orange cone suggest some sort of lighted signage or lamppost to be installed.

"Yep, that should clean up all the emissions from the bridge."

In all seriousness SSP should adopt that tree to make sure it survives. I don't like the chances.

Forgot the pics were out of order chronologically, so I thought the hole was in addition to the tree.

Haha you read my mind!! When I first saw that posted the first thing that came to my mind is we should start a poll:

Question 1.
Will the median tree
A) Immediately flourish
B) Stagnate and stay the same size for many years with very slow growth
C) Stagnate and steadily die off over several years

Question 2.
Will the median tree die of...
A) Drunk idiots/kids snaping the trunk
B) Drunk idiots/kids steadily breaking off branches over time until it gets replaced
C) Someone driving off the road over it
D) Poor location 1- die of lack of sunlight
E) Poor location 2- die of lack of water from being surrounded by impenetrable concrete and asphalt

Question 2
Will the median tree die...
A) within 3 months
B) within 1 year
C) within 5 years
D) live 10+ years

I think it'll do okay unless this happens:

Strangely, the trees on Nelson at Yaletown Park have been frequently mowed down, as have the ones on Smithe next to that former art gallery (in the Pinnacle heritage building).
