I vote for a flag with a rendering of a 400' residential rectangle with a bunch of bats flying by it.

Let me just say that I have never eaten Blue Bell ice cream as far as I know, and I have no interest in what happens to the company. I also have no interest in making any political statement for or against Governor Abbot. But this Statesman photo is just screaming "Welcome to Texas and enjoy our listeria, ya'll!"

Except the Blue Bell plant that had listeria was in Alabama, not Texas. Before that, Blue Bell had gone 108 years without a problem.

No. The Brenham plant had a terrible history with Listeria.

I love Blue Bell. I would very much support a Blue Bell import store in China. Just sayin'...

Blue Bell's alright. It's not my first choice, though. I actually like HEB's brand better. Of course if anyone wants to offer me some ice cream I'll take it, even if it isn't from HEB.

I prefer Blue Bell to HEB, but I've bought more HEB in the recent years due to its price.

I like a harder ice cream, not one that is soft and creamy. That's why I prefer Blue Bell to almost anything. Really dislike soft serve.

Don't know if this is the case anymore, but I worked at HEB in high school and heard that some of the Creamy Creations stuff was made in the Blue Bell factory - at least for a time it was.

I would look at property valuation of the central neighborhoods.

Property valuation probably explains the revenue differential but what are we getting for an extra billion? I'd be curious to see how it breaks out, especially on a per capita basis. It does make sense that faster growth necessitates greater expenditures for infrastructure etc., but SA is growing fairly quickly as well.

One reason for higher expenditures here is probably that liberals like me are always demanding bigger budgets for everything -- schools, public transit, assistance for the poor, dog parks, free yoga for dogs, free condoms, free needle exchange programs, free LSD... or am I remembering San Francisco?

Question for you other photogs, what panorama programs are you guys using? The one that I'd had for years got lost the last time our old computer quit on us, and I can't seem to find the disk. I've looked around some online, but none seem to be quite what I'm looking for.

For those that like to keep tabs on Austin's population stats, it looks like the city may soon add around 7,000 residents via a two square mile annexation:

Question: When we talk about things like population and population density relative to the city limits, are we only talking about full-purpose city land area or both full-purpose and limited-purpose area?

The 7K is number is an estimate of the area at build out. There is virtually no population increase right away with only 14 homes in the proposed annexation.

The article goes on to say that the Douchebag (my word) Zimmerman doesn't want the city to do any annexation. This loser is a city killer.

That's a misrepresentation of what Zimmerman said. He said he thinks the places a city wants to take in should be able to vote on it.

And I actually agree with him on that.

Oops.. I usually read articles all the way through. I don't know why I didn't this time.

Seems that most smartphone and compact cameras have panorama modes as integrated settings these days. I have used software in the past as well...most recently Microsoft's Image Composite Editor: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/.../projects/ice/

^^ And many county and state roads leave a lot to be desired. Annexation is certainly a big deal and one should weigh both sides of it - I support voting for it as well. Sometimes it's the right move, sometimes not.
