LOL!

I think it is demonstration that this project is truly unique, not only in overall form, but with respect to processes and implementation logistics. Hopefully any issues they might be having are minor and have reasonable solutions manifesting themselves. Happy that the outside envelope seems complete, so that means taking time with outside finishing is not delaying inside work, which most certainly must be progressing well.

As I've stated before, I actually like the human form of this building. It has a unique allure to it. There are things that will only be known when it is complete, but I'm quite positive.

I don't think Suburbia hates the innercity, I think he just thinks it's overrated.

Man, I'm still having a difficult time liking this building, just seems so disjointed to me.

Purely talking from a rendering perspective, I would tend to agree. Seeing it in person has really changed my opinion on this one, its really coming together nicely IMO.

The only thing that seems disjointed to me is how the King Eddy fits in. The metal tiles are looking fantastic!

The King Eddy fits in better than it does in the rendering though given the brown coloring of the brick. I'm not sure if they are planning to paint the building white.

I really hope they don't to be honest.

Taking their time on this one. Tiles are great but, still too early to gauge how it all ties together.

Yeah, me too. I liked the white on its own, but it won't go with the new building. If they are to paint it at all, charcoal would be the way to go imo.

I have family coming for stampede this year. Will the NMC be up and running by then?

Does anyone know the plans for the lot to the south-east of the intersection on 9th Ave across from the NMC?

The lot is currently a fenced in vacant plot from Inglewood until the 4th Street SE underpass with a chain-link fence and no sidewalk. It is in stark contrast to a beautiful building like this.

They say they are opening "summer 2016" but considering Stampede is in early July and there still seems to be quite a bit of work left, my guess is no.

My understanding is they are opening a limited part of the building prior to the Junos (early April) and then a wider-scale opening later in the summer but the full building won't be open until some time in 2017.

Railtown area. It's been nothing more than a concept for a better part of the last decade. Considering Remington's pace in constructing the Merideth Block, one shouldn't expect anything there for a few years.

I believe Railtown is on the south side of the tracks. I don't know if this is true, but I heard the provincial government bought the SE lot with the intend of building a HSR station.

That would actually be a marvelous use of that land! They could also probably bridge the HSR station over to the adjacent 4th Street SE Green Line Station when it's built. I wish HSR was still in the cards here, or heck, any kind of rail would be great. Nearly 4 years living here and I still hate that I can't just hop on the via to Edmonton, Lethbridge, Banff, or Red Deer. It just seems silly that our major cities have no transit connection other than bus and plane.

In the mid term, I can only see it (IE for Edmonton) if accompanying a major international bid for a large competition of sorts. A joint Summer Olympics bid, while a stretch for Alberta, would be something that could make it happen.

Regarding Lethbridge, Great Falls Montana and your other rural fantasies, this could be useful:
