And now it is 10 years later. Not quite built out yet, but Mueller has come a long ways.

It makes it safer for kids to play outside in front of their houses. It's better for block parties. It makes the neighborhood look better. People won't park campers and trailers in front of their houses. Etc.

Damn, you quoted a 10 year old post. I didn't think anyone bothered to go that far back in time in these threads.

I'm also curious about the base of the tower, where the terminal building used to be. Perhaps a new structure will surround the bare concrete base? The project maps seem to indicate the tower will be situated within a park setting. I guess we'll see. Lots of opportunities there.
Any updates on what they're doing to the old tower? There has been speculation for 10 years and I saw a snippet on KXAN or KVUE where they confirmed that plans were under development...... and nothing.

See post #439 for some info. Plans are starting to move forward.

Totally agree. I think it's one of the things that makse Mueller look way better than any typical suburban neighborhood. Driveways and huge garage doors are always such an eyesore. That's why old neighborhoods like Hyde Park are so pretty - no big garages in the front.

Went to a Habitat fundraiser last night where they raised enough money to buy 11 lots for threeplexes and fourplexes in the neighborhood. Cool idea.

Yes!! Missing middle housing truly is the way to go if affordability, sustainability or compact and connected living really is the goal. Austin Habitat for Humanity realizes that single family detached is no longer feasible. Good info for when we're facing someone who looks to fight development saying density isn't good...

What's the address the Texas Mutual Insurance project at Mueller?

https://www.workzonecam.com/projects...l/workzonecam1

It's a nice looking building, by the way.

But the massive wall of concrete on its side is tragic.

Agreed. But, it’s parking which should be covered up in the short term with some kind of graphics and in the long term with someone building on the other half of the block and covering the whole thing up.

Either something is going to get built up against that wall or there is going to be a facade placed over it. Otherwise, they would have left openings for ventilation.

If you look at both "Work Zone Cam" and "Work Zone Cam - Camera 2" in the link above, you can see they are going to some pretty elaborate lengths to disguise the part of the garage that faces the street. Why do that if you are going to have a big blank wall on the other side that drivers will see when they pull up to the building?

There will be something built along that concrete wall. Most garages in mueller are designed to be covered up eventually. Even the one by the AISD performing arts center will eventually have buildings surrounding it.

I remember seeing something about the hanger redevelopment somewhere. But it's not in the Mueller thread as far as I noticed, so I'll post it here. This is from a Loopnet retail listing. The listing has a property flyer link with more info.

Here's what the hanger looked like last Summer from Streetview:

I'm not really a fan of this. Do we really need to commercialize everything? Can't we just have a space that's a gathering place for people? Sigh.

So, I went and saw Ant-Man and the Wasp at the Mueller Drafthouse last night (good movie!) then decided to do some exploring around Mueller since I haven't done that in a while...

Turns out, there's a lot of new roads now. Stromquist, Attra, and Tilley Streets are all completed and Zach Scott goes all the way to Manor Road now. And the Rathgeber Village buildings are almost finished.

I suspect they'll wait until the rest of the construction is finished before they build the elementary school so the kids aren't walking in a dangerous area but guys, Mueller feels like it's getting close to being filled out. Maybe 2 more years or so. It's so crazy how much this changes one's perspective of the whole area.

Noticed this as well. Drove out to the end of Zach Scott, then realized how much that corner deserves a pocket of retail. It's so far from everything else.
