No MARTA station nearby unless you count a MARTA bus stop. The closest MARTA rail station is College Park or Airport. To get here on MARTA you would probably need to catch a bus from the College Park rail station.

This area is economically depressed and could use the Porsche/VW HQ and test track. With the international terminal opening in the middle of May, this area will get some more traffic as people drive on airport loop, central ave and virginia ave to get between the domestic and international terminal.

Construction to start on Woodstock outlet mall

Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta, in Woodstock construction to begin. Having Atlanta in the name of this outlet mall is a stretch. Should be called North Georgia Outlet Shoppes or Piedmont Outlet Shoppes instead.

Smyrna adding pedestrian bridge over Spring Road

http://mdjonline.com/view/full_story/183...allation?instance=lead_story_left_column

The Atlanta metro area can always use more bike/pedestrain trails, especially ones that are separated from vehicular traffic. Someday Atlanta may have a network of bike trails around the entire city.

Is Viewpoint Tower 2 back on track?

Looks like Novare is finally ready to build the second tower at Viewpoint. Hopefully next they'll finish Twelve Centennial Park.

I hope they go with a different look than Viewpoint. I'd rather see 3 different types of towers than 3 that look the same. Wasn't all that impressed with the way Viewpoint looks on top. Like a cheesy building you'd see in Vegas.

It's better than what's there now... which is a total eyesore! Definitely hoping they can secure some better retail for that block once it gets built out... pretty pathetic what they have right now.

20) Riverview Landing - Cobb Co - 90 acres mixed-use - Jamestown/Marthasville Dev

21) Ponce City Market - Poncey-Highlands - 2.1M SF redevelopment - Jamestown

In addition to all the residential infill, there are all sorts of other projects going on with university expansions, new hotels and hotel renovations, new government buildings, the streetcar, etc etc.

Here are the pics:

North Point Hospitality's 116 key Hilton Garden Inn/110 key Homewood Suits dual-branded hotel at 10th and Williams. Will include podium parking and a 400-seat restaurant on ground floor.

Cafe Agora's Midtown location opening soon (hard to see but interior buildout mostly done). Rumored to be 24 hours.

Random infill that probably won't happen next to Blake's on Piedmont.

12th and Park luxury apartments coming soon...

The site of a park that Jamestown will help fund on its land next to the John Marshall School of Law on W Peachtree.

The Atlantic is now rentals. 324 units - ranging from $1650-$5400/mo.

Teknion's awesome space in base of BB&T Tower in Atlantic Station.

Vickery's progressing - will be a seafood concept operated by Fifth Group.

Village at Buckhead (I'm not impressed at all)

92 West Paces Ferry

Camden's new 376 development on East Andrews will include a 7 floor tower above 2 level parking podium, a 5 floor building surrounding a garage, and then 3-4 floor townhomes. Fence is up and demolition is pending for a summer construction start.

CDC's Buford Highway Campus is building more buildings, including this 9 floor one topped off.

Dresden Dr is having an infill boom and Hines is set to start construction on their development soon as part of their foray back into multifamily development.

The site across the street:

Emory Pointe will be ready for occupancy in August and will feature about 50 floorplans that will rent at $1.80-$1.95/sf. 80,000 SF retail already largely leased up and phase II of the apartments will begin soon.

Emory Health Sciences Research Building

Site of planned 4 floor $93M 200,000 SF Georgia Tech Engineering Biosystem Building at 10th and State/Atlantic

Hank McCamish Pavilion

New Subway on 14th

PCM

Site of NAP planned development

2061 Peachtree MOB

Skyhouse...this thing is shooting up!

My next update won't be for a couple months most likely and I'm going to try to confine it to Midtown and intown areas. I can't stand going up to Buckhead any longer as the traffic is too bad.

Couldn't agree more about the JLB project. I understand that not all buildings need to have a retail component, but with The Streets of Buckhead project (I refuse to call it Buckhead, Atlanta) being right across the street the JLB site was ideal for taking advantage of foot traffic and expanding the neighborhood. Instead this development just feels like a wall.

Thanks for the updates!

From that Novare article announcement: http://midtown.patch.com/articles/novare...g-mixed-use-project-on-6th#photo-9185004

Quote:
991 Piedmont Avenue (Gilbert’s Expansion) - Project Type: Interior renovation and exterior façade enhancements to the former Outwrite Bookshop for the purpose of expanding restaurant operations into the new space.

933 Peachtree Street (James Madison Salon) - Project Type: Storefront modifications to create a new entrance to the salon from the sidewalk. New double doors will be recessed inside a vestibule.

1065 Peachtree Street (Café Intermezzo) - Project Type: Storefront modifications for a new restaurant tenant, including a new cover over an outdoor dining area along Peachtree Street.

1080 Peachtree Street (Mi Cocina) - Project Type: Storefront modifications for a new restaurant tenant, including a new door on Peachtree and patio areas along 11th Street and Peachtree.
Cafe Intermezzo and Mi Cocina are the 2 retailers we have been waiting for for many months at the 12th and Midtown development. James Madison is in Metropolis.

Mi Cocina is a suburban Mexican chain out of TX. Midtown could use a Mexican restaurant with a late night bar, and while other locations may be suburban free standing units or mall units, this will be built into the ground floor of a 36 story condo tower (will occupy southern corner endcap space at 1010).

Cafe Intermezzo's independently owned/run location near 26th and Peachtree is coming down to 1010 and will go north of the condo entrance lobby. It's obviously a very late night wine bar/dessert shop/bakery/tapas. It will create more activity and will hopefully complement all the other late night restaurants and the Mi Cocina.

And without giving anything away, I know 3 more announcements coming to Midtown soon. 1 is a high end retailer and 2 are restaurants (one is popular with a location in Buckhead).

And another note...the Novare article mentions an adjoining garage at SW corner of 7th and Juniper, which eliminates the prior renderings because that was a podium setup and included plans for a 3rd tower at 7th and Juniper. I think they are following the Skyhouse setup with a garage to the side. I really hope they spend some money on the garage and cover up the current Viewpoint garage, include a decent facade, and if applicable shells for street level retail. There are condos with ground floor retail lining Juniper on the other side, so it only makes sense.

first time i've been impressed with a list of projects since before the recession hit. wishing more of this was centered on all the vacant/underdeveloped lots in midtown though.

Good to see my girl, Atlanta, growing up before my very eyes. Seriously, this is an impressive amount of growth for the area and it's being done the right way (for the most part). Once again, thank you Simms for this very informative update.
