It's all for show, I'm guessing. It'll be one of those amazing proposals you see that never really materializes. Every city and suburb has 'em.

I'm with you on that one Comrade I don't ever expect these to get built, especially, as Viper pointed out, that CCC has scaled back their third large residential tower for the time being, and the commercial tower as part of CCC is also on hold for the time being. I think this developer wants to make a big splash and show us how big his is.

How exactly does he expect to fill a 30 story office tower with tenants that have no choice but to drive to work, (I know Sandy proponents will say, but there is trax access, yeah a mile up the road across a 6 lane street. I don't think Sandy realizes the amount of stress that will put on on already over burdened infrastructure in that area. While I think it is important for each individual city to focus on Economic Development, I just don't think Tom "douche bag" Dolan realizes that you can't build a true Urban environment on top of a Suburban infrastructure, it's the same situation with the Gehry project in Lehi. CCC works as does Market Station and Gateway because these massive projects are placed in areas that are designed for the infrastructure demand that they will create.

Maybe there are some people out there that would buy a $300,000 condo in the new DT Sandy? Some views won't be to bad, like the view to the east and to the north, but lets be honest how many people want to look at their window and see the roof and sea of assfault of South Town?

I am glad that someone on this board understands.

Hell yea. Those are huge towers. I like it.
However i think this is just going to turn on to be a pipe dream. Those towers just seem to be a little too big for Sandy. Hell SLC doesn't even have towers like these. Still those towers would be awesome to have.

Pretty cool for Sandy. Unfortunately, if this project does come to fruition, that will take away from tower proposals in SLC. It would look cool, though.

Projects, I'll let you be the brave one and start a new thread on this. I'm afraid we'll be hunted down and executed. Maybe you could entitle it something like, " SLC's evil stepsister makes big plans!!" Ahhh, what the crapola, I'll go ahead and post a new thread.

The only thing I like about that is that the towers are pointy. Oh, and I like the little boxy holes in the middle of each tower, like a Jenga piece is missing. Everything else hurts. Driving and parking out there is already a nightmare at the best of times--it took me TWENTY minutes to get from the Jordan Commons to 90th South the other day.

Freeway access is already a mess, TRAX is far away--what are they thinking?

As Provo/Orem grows, especially the south valley sector, and if they do put a bridge over Utah Lake from the West and Cedar Valley, then Provo's airport will definately expand into a major municipal airport. This will all happen eventually. The question is how fast? It will probably happen eventually for Ogden too. Something along the line of Long Beach, John Wayne, or Burbank.

"Just like New York" Oh my hell. and maybe if they clench their butt cheeks together tight enough they can make it turn into a diamond too right?

When will Sandy learn. You are a suburb that relys fully on cars. New York relys on walkability. Freakn hell...

I have heard it all now.

but does anyone honestly think we can support this much retail in the valley/area?

City Creek Center, Gateway mall, Trolley Square expansion, Cottonwood mall village, Market station, Valley Fair mall expansion, Fashion place mall expansion, south towne mall expansion, this new sandy development, the real soccer stadium development area, Drapers retail mega area with ikea once it develops, lehis mega retail as well.

Am I the only one that sees a problem here? I dont think Sandy projects will be able to compete with all the draper and lehi projects stealing from it. There are only so many retail dollars to go around.

LOL, Careful Viper, you're going to burst a vessel. I love the butt-cheeks analogy. Hey, I think many of these projects are developments that will grow as our metro continues to grow. You understand better than most of us that these developers are staking their claims. Many of these projects are not going to realize their full size overnight. How fast the phases of the projects proceed will depend on how uber-fast our metro continues to expand.

I'm wondering if it's an April Fool's prank.. if you go to the website it's for some development in Florida:

The Proscenium also features three, 30-story-plus towers that would dominate Sandy's skyline, 600 condos, 800,000 square feet of offices and 400,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space, including the Broadway theater.

and you thought the gateway looked fake.

I think i just threw up in my mouth.

It's 14 miles from downtown Salt Lake to Sandy. Someone who wants or needs to live in Sandy will live there. Same with Salt Lake. Having these residential towers in Sandy won't effect Salt Lake. However, if they're commercial, that would effect Salt Lake. Just like all the smaller office buildings in Sandy.

While it has the same name and similar design, I don't really think they would pull an April Fool's prank like this. I would imagine there are several mixed used developments around the country that are called Proscenium.

How good would those towers look on Earl Holdings property DOWNTOWN? At least there would be some balance with the other towers downtown. These will stick out like a sore thumb in Sandy. I really don't like Tom Dolan. Our valley is not big enough in population to support highrises in both places. What a chump!

Where

Its a nice project and yes it would be perferable in DT, I'm still confused on where they will put it? will it be in that really narrow field behind the target or will it be along the frontage road to the west of the city hall in sandy? Not that I'm worried it will ever get built well at least with all 3 towers

Funny you ask that. I was thinking the same thing when i got up this morning and i was thinking about this project. Looking at the rendering the over all project does look to be about a size of a downtown SLC block. So that would fit in nice in the Earl Holdings Block. But who are we kidding. He will never redevelop that block. In fact I bet he even put down in his "Will" that once he passes on that no one is allowed to develop that block.

When it isn't built, here's where it won't be:
