It could be that 100 million dollar top secret project

2735 5th Ave was the All Nations Hope Network. They had a harm reduction 24/7 drop in centre there that closed a few years ago due to lack of funding.

Is this project possibly related to the Pepeekisis (probably misspelled that) urban reserve discussed at coucil in November?

I'm officially on my 3rd drone in a year and a half. I picked up a DJI Mini 5 Pro tonight after selling my Mini 3 today, putting a sizeable dent in my wallet. DJI drones are the same price everywhere, so the best deal ended up taking advantage of Visions 5% back gift card if you order online for in-store pickup. Then I used that $71 card in store towards the 2 Year Care Refresh coverage. And they have 30 day price match, (60 if you subscribe to their rewards mailing list), though the Mini 5 hasn't been discounted since its release yet.

Buying Care Coverage is something that requires to store to phone DJI and request a code which I might not get for a day or two. So no flying until then as the code must be entered within 24 hours of activation.

It's a mega new All Nations Hope. It fits the pattern of these Federally funded projects being a Taj Mahal with all the features on some idealist's wish list, rather than directing the maximum resources to frontline services for those in need. As long as you check all of Ottawa's boxes, you get the $$$.

PS - you misspelled misspelled.

Waiting to get the registration code for the drone. Its been foggy the past 2 days, but warm and sunny coming up. I contacted DJI and surprisingly instead of just passing the buck and blaming the seller, they wanted to know the seller and a copy of the receipt so they could contact them.

We’re all looking forward to your drone photos. It’s gonna be fun.

Doesn't DJI realize that they have left the whole Regina construction and development community in the dark about what is happening out there in real time!

We really appreciate everything you do for us gecho.

It's Visions that dropped the ball on that one as they have to initiate it. It is possible their procedure involves delegating it to head office adding to the delay.

Got the code this evening. The post setup firmware update is quite large, 660MB for the drone, 1.3GB for the controller.

Parliament Ave Co-op gas station render and site overhead. https://www.sherwoodco-op.crs/sites/...anding-gas-bar

Final permit report of 2025 posted this morning. Was a quiet final week of the year. One thing I didn't notice in the previous report was an $800,000 permit for Lewvan Crossing. Could indicate a tenant is moving into the vacant building built last year.

Adding steel bracing between some of the piles at the rail bridge project.

The new drone controller is going to take a little getting used to. I had trouble reaching the shutter button. It wasn't until I was home with my gloves off that I realized I was holding it wrong . There is a scroll wheel below a button each side and it seems to be designed for you to put your index finger on the button and middle finger on the wheel. The other controller you could easily reach both with the index finger.

I heard the 2x digital zoom on this model of drone was pretty good, but I think that applies more to videos than photos as the results were hit and miss on several of the zoom shots I took. Startup time is much faster, I used to have to wait for a gps lock, but the drone is ready before the controller turns on.

I just noticed the left edge of all the photos are blurred, so this one might need to be exchanged that is a symptom of a camera manufacturing defect. (Need to mail it to their service centre in Ontario, not a great start with this one)

A tender up for this year's traffic light work. Replacing the ones at Pasqua & Pasqua Gate with the cantilevered type to get rid of the poles in the medians on Pasqua. The ones at Gordon & Lockwood by Southland also getting replaced.

As expected Arens is getting traffic lights at Woodland Grove. Nearby a set is getting installed at Chuka & Buckingham. I'm looking forward to the Arens ones, shitty visibility there when crossing Woodland Grove due to fences at the sidewalk.

Various pedestrian crossings. Grand Road & Shannon, Park & 4th Ave, 25th & Rae near Golden Mile, upgrade of one near WF Ready school, upgrade of one in Argyle Park.

I walked over to the rail bridge with my digital camera. They are currently welding angle steel across the columns top and bottom along with a diagonal piece to tie them together. With the new drone off for a camera swap I was looking at the controller last night and saw there's a drone simulator built-in, so I got to test some of the features though not everything is implemented.

I also saw a vibrating hand rail while I was walking over. I stopped it before I left and it was doing it again when I passed it later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDbSbRhlCBM

5th Ave project is All Nations Hope Network, it was unclear if they still owned that site as something else had moved in there after they shutdown programming. Story mentions 13 million twice, not sure if it is awkward phrasing or if the total is 26 million. https://www.ctvnews.ca/regina/articl...place-of-hope/

Rail bridge work seem to be wrapping up. Crane was gone today and they were starting to stack the mats it had been sitting on. I think they have all the braces tacked in place and are just doing the full welds. Removed some more of the old wood cross braces

Chainsawing away at the old wood supports today. An excavator on rail wheels was rolling away a dumpster on wheels back to the rail yard as I got there.

The "long-term" vision of White City was to allow upper-class people to not have to see poor people (and get richer by paying lower property taxes, all the while still using city services (that they don't pay for)). The issue is that White City/Emerald Park (when are they just going to merge?) is large enough now that it requires service workers to function (used to just be mostly housing). So...where do those workers live? They certainly can't afford the properties out there. So they need apartments or cheap condos. But the upper-class people who live there don't like being reminded that they exist unless they are serving them food.

Can you tell I am opinionated on people who want all teh convenience of a city, but not to contribute to the upkeep and culture of it? lol

"Upper class" is a stretch, but otherwise point taken. For a community of well over 5000 people to not have a single apartment building is really something.

It would be a whole different story if the place was called Brown city, there would be apartments everywhere

Its a CN line. Goes from the rail yard, past the rail car plant on Pinkie, branches off to the Cargill Plant, then continues off toward Moose Jaw.

I got an email from the service centre for the drone. They are replacing the camera lens module, hopefully it gets back before the weather gets cold again.

My digital camera is getting flakey and doesn't focus well anymore. Most photos are a little out of focus and many completely out so I have to take extra and delete the worst. Higher powered zoom compact digital cameras seem to be going extinct as a product.
