Is this the 'flatiron' building?

fimiak - glad to see the picture of the demolition starting on Trinity Plaza. I was by two days ago & it had not started - what a difference a day makes. I watched the building demolition on the corner of Mission & 8th Sts. - it took awhile to tear the building down as it was reinforced concrete.

And yes, a flatiron building, one of several in the city.

Can't wait till the rest of the east side of Octavia Boulevard is developed. There were some great concepts for Parcels L, M, S, R, T and U from the design competition a few years back. It's a shame that none of them seem to have gone anywhere since then. Kicking those off would really transform the street from a throughway to a neighborhood. Anyone hear anything about those parcels lately?

Unfortunately, it will obliterate the bit of Millennium you can see. You have a great view of everything happening on Rincon Hill as well. So, when's the forumer get-together on your balcony going to take place?

I started from Page 1 of this thread, and given the 2 days I'll be there next month, I'm looking for buildings I want to visit while there. This is one, the Millenium Tower, the Jewish Museum and re-visits to the older 60's/70's buildings (I love that period!), some brutalistic designed buildings and any building with a curve will drop me to my knees!

The tallest one, built way, way back, the bank building, (60's/70's) and the Transamerica building, I'll bet those buildings smile snobbishly upon all the new kids on the blocks in that city!

In one of the earlier threads I stumbled upon a post about the opposition to the Transamerica building, way back when! OMG! And, furthur back, there was opposition to the Coit Tower?

Let's learn a lesson from Paris, the outrage over them building the Eiffel Tower, and later, the pyramid at the Louvre!

Stockbridge (and Wilson Meany) spending $50MM to redo the mechanical systems, upgrade seismic systems, lobby renovation, new windows, etc. 295,000 SF office, Telp will take 100,000 SF (7 floors), Knoll the office furniture broker is already there I think, and it's rumored 2 high profile restauranteurs will take up space along the ground floor.

Tishman Speyer's Infinity part Two. Entitled for 750 units, plan to build 650 units between two towers (350 ft and 400 ft). I hear they will start soon, so I took a pic of the site. I also heard another very large high profile condo project went multifamily, but not sure if that's public (it's in the same area). If that's true, then I think that makes Tishman's deal the only condo deal in the immediate area right now.

Another Tishman Speyer deal set to deliver 275,000 SF (or is it 286,000 SF) of office later this year. Was originally another Stockbridge/Wilson Meany partnership. LEED gold.

181 Fremont Tower Fully Rendered, Animated, And Ready To Rise

Having acquired the Transbay parcel and approved plans to build a 52-story tower with 14 floors of condos over 400,000 square feet of office space and a spire reaching 800 feet, Silicon Valley builder Jay Paul plans to break ground on 181 Fremont as soon as possible.

While many have seen the renderings, for the first time we're publicly serving up the animation for the tower to rise which was filmed by steelblue for the Jay Paul Company. And yes, RocketSpace will soon need to find a new home.

also, that 181 fremont video is so so sick, as is the new that it'll be starting as soon as possible (it's approved and ready for permitting), looks like the next fidi south update will require another site shot.

376 castro. 6 stories containing 24 residential units, with 4 brm units, 12 parking spaces, some bike parking, a community amenity space, and retail on the corner and along the market frontage. no timeline, but the service station is closed and site prep ought to be starting soon.



this is such a vital project. imagine once the chevron is gone how great that intersection will feel, without cars crossing your path all the time (and bring on the street renovations!).

also, this article in the bar area reporter mentions that 35 dolores is moving ahead (i confirmed on their website, construction might even be started, though i wonder about their hoped-for 1-1 parking ratio) and that:

Castro neighborhood groups are now focused on trying to convince Greystar, the developer of an 85-unit development slated for a corner lot at Sanchez, Market and 15th streets, next door to the Swedish American Hall, to include the required 10 BMR units on site and not pay an in-lieu fee as they have proposed to do.

swedish american/cafe du nord, it should read. what a joy it would be to see that one get built out, and 85 units! the glory! another key piece in stitching the market street retail wall back together.

That's a good suggestion to me, especially since most of the lounges and restaurants at the top of our buildings have been converted to banquet space. Fortunately too, the Marriott's View Lounge has less of a view with every new tower built nearby.

This is the site of the old ARCO (later independent) station on the NW corner, not Chevron on the SE corner.

yeah, i mean that when the chevron is gone and built out with the retail wrap leading up to the plaza, we'll have a full, built out, glorious intersection there.
