Really cool find! Goes to show that making it symmetrical was the right move — combined with the gold and bronze material, the symmetry just screams 'Old World glamour'.

Interesting that this rendering shows the opposite of that early model and zoning diagram, with the higher side facing Park instead of Madison:

^ I always felt that particular model was turned the wrong way. If you look at photos of the other older model, it’s the opposite, with the higher setbacks facing Park Avenue like below…

I like the symmetrical setbacks but I understand the logic of staggering them. More floors have access to them.

The proportions on 1 Vandy were so much better at 1500'

When did it change from same floor set backs to offset setbacks on different floors? Been discussing this tower for 6 years and never noticed the change till this page.

It changed from offset floors to symmetrical floors around October 2020. Go to pages 90-94 of this forum section

^ maybe they figured nine columns of offices with differing floor levels would have been a little too needlessly confusing?

We've witnessed a 700 ft skyscraper be taken down for a basically 1,400 ft skyscraper. In all what seems like a very short time. Amazing.

yeah there has been no moss growing on this project.

very remarkably speedy progress all along the way here.

often it slows way down toward the finish line at the top for awhile, at least visibly, while they work hauling materials inside before they close it up — we’ll see here.

Looks great from the ferry to Brooklyn

Also looks great from Sunset Park. Wild how huge midtown looks from there.
