As Dominion pointed out... it seems like WestJet will be mostly mainline to YYZ (and YYC 6x weekly) starting on July 5th. That will be nice to see.

I think once the Maritimes open their borders back up we could see WestJet flying daily to YHZ as well. (And Porter).

Unfortunately... with flights to YVR, YYC, YYZ, YUL, YHZ.... we have a lot of the country covered via connections on AC. I'm not sure what we will see added again any time soon unfortunately.

YWG and YEG will be next probably or PD’s destinations (I think the latter is more likely), along with somewhere in the US by maybe September...who knows with Covid out of control in the US. Over 11,000 cases in Florida alone today.

At this rate, LHR will be back before a transborder flight.

This week’s OAG report shows at this point UA returning in September with 2x IAD and 1.5 ORD (probably means a mid-month return 2x daily).

I live close to the airport and can view the airport activity in the skies. Both my neighbour and I have noticed a large increase in air activity in the past few weeks. Does anyone know what it is? There are some jets, but otherwise standard aircraft.

During April and May the skies were dead silent and now we are hearing planes fairly regularly.

If you consider that going from 6-10 departures per day up to now around 16-18 is in fact a 60%-300% increase per day, then yeah it definitely appears that way. Still a far cry from 110 departures per day...which won't happen again for a long time, especially with two fewer airlines to go around!

There's probably a lot of GA aircraft buzzing around too what with the clear stretch of weather and having class C airspace virtually to themselves these days.

WestJet 610 and Transat 90 both are landing back-to-back on 14 right now!

I know this wouldn't normally be exciting but I miss spotting. I live close to the airport so zoomed down to check it out. (Sorry no pictures).

Either it’s cargo on one of TS’s temporary freighters or a troops charter...maybe to pick up or drop off reservists now that their job in Ontario is done? Troop charters or weather diversions are about the only reasons why TS widebodies have visited YOW since they dropped LGW back in what 2014?

Pretty sure it was a training or some sort of recertification flight. Landed on 14, taxied and stopped on the ramp between and parallel to 32 and the terminal. It sat there for 20-25 mins with its engines running and then took off on 14 for YYZ.

Ah yes very true these days.

Today’s departure count: 18. It’s so weird seeing WS with more capacity (but still less frequency) than AC to YYZ.
