I saw a news story yesterday that said Dewdney would be open by the end of the year, I hope they actually meant to say month. Assembling the tower crane at the long term care site. Pile drilling has moved onto the final wing. I figured 40% battery would be enough to get photos of the rail bridge, but the drone refused to take off at 40% and being cold so I had to swap the battery. (5:30 pm and I can hear the pile driver going again, that sound really carries)

This is a horrible idea IMHO especially for such a prominent spot. No way we should put a stadium that is empty for well over 300 days a year.
I wish Regina would build a business hub full of restaurants, cafe's etc with a shared patio for summer which could be converted to a small outdoor rink in winter. Sadly I have a feeling what we end up with will be much worse and sparse.

I believe the total federal funding for the Dewdney Ave/Yards project was about $65M, which $32M of was used on the Dewdney renewal. If I recall correctly, to get the remaining $33M, 350 housing units need to be built. The $33M can be used for a pedestrian bridge over the tracks and whatever public space is developed there. If this is still the case, then it's the key piece in this project as that connector to downtown and increased density are vital to this development.

I also feel that a main asset to draw folks there is needed too. A ballpark would be fun, but at most with the Red Sox and maybe some high level national tournaments it would get used 50-60 days a year. Now isn't the time financially for Brandt 2.0, but it will get replaced eventually, and a footprint should be held here for it.

Feds funded $11 million of the $32 million for the Dewdney project.

Regarding the Yards: Any proposal must comply with the expected results of the New Building Canada Fund – Provincial and Territorial Infrastructure Agreement, which includes between 150 and 1,200 homes as well as a public park and tree canopy.
