That was just a proposal back in 2013 according to the below document, which was apparently from the original 2008 St George st Conceptual Plan. And from what I can see, it would appear that they have covered and completed most of the upgrades.

No - there is something more significant in the offing. They're going to be replacing the entire underground infrastructure along the street (water, sewer) within the next few years. The whole street is going to be ripped up over the course of several years. It would be the ideal time to bury the overhead wiring along the street.......

NW Corner of Main/Vaughn Harvey is 2 mins away. Who owns that lot?

Cameron and St. George is more than 2 minutes away and is owned by Killam Properties.

I hope it isn't the NW corner of Main/V Harvey. With the Junction development planning an office building of 6 floors on the corner, a building of similar height would be much better for this intersection. But that lot is absolutely within a 2 minute walk of the center. The NW corner of Gordon/Highfield would be another possibility. We'll see.

Surely not that property for this townhome development - way too much traffic, and a way too prominent location. This corner deserves a multistory commercial building.

I totally agree. I was more speculating as to what lot is available 2 minutes away. I envision the lot being North of Main towards/ Gordon/St. George.

I saw a post by the city somewhere earlier this year. I can't remember where I saw it. But the article said that St. George Street was going to be rebuilt over three years beginning in 2020, doing a third of it each year. I believe the first phase was Vaughn Harvey to Highfield, then Highfield to Botsford, then Botsford to King. I saw the one article and nothing since. So, it may be on or off the table.

On a side note, the framing for the apartment complex on Victoria Street behind Assomption Cathedral began going up today.

Does anyone know who will be renting this building? It looks like Amico is building it.

Well, it didn't take too long to find a replacement tenant for Kanpai Izakaya on Robinson Court.

A new fine dining Indian restaurant is apparently moving in, and will be called Tandoori Zaika. This will be in direct competition with Taj Mahal, just a couple of blocks away on Main Street.

I'm not going to complain about 2 Indian restaurants just half a dozen blocks away from my front door. Taj closes at 8:30pm every night. Hopefully this place will stay open later.

If I'm going to pay premium price of ~ $300k (guessing) for a townhouse, I definitely do not want a loud Main st location at my front door. Gordon/Highfield lot seems like a perfect location for this type of project.

I agree 100% and the Highfield/Gordon corner is a 2 min walk. the lot I mentioned is probably a 5 minute walk..

Good for Moncton's goal of having more residential density in the downtown core. The vacant land on Gordon Street is a prime location. Walking distance to Avenir, Sobeys, etc. I hope that is the location for this project, and not Main/V Harvey property. We need something bigger on that corner to match the future Junction office building.

Interesting info from the Impulse Nightclub via Facebook.

Apparently they were evicted from their premises at the old Cosmo location on Main Street, and had to leave by December 1st. The new owner (Ashford) apparently wants to do major demolition, perhaps of the whole building and they had to evacuate the premises forthwith.

This adds more oil to the flames regarding a possible major project in the offing for this property. Maybe something big will be announced for the 2020 construction year..........

The Kelray Homes project is not on Gordon. Ashford has no immediate plans for this lot.

My guess is somewhere on Campbell or Elm.

Hi all
I'm new to your forum, I find it very interesting and informative
I called Kelray Homes earlier this week to get info on their downtown project
They tell it won't be exactly as advertised on their sign.
It will actually be a high end semi -detached (2 units) that will be for sale
cost around $400k per unit
They tell me it will be built on a vacant lot "close to the back of the Times and Transcript building"
