You're probably right. Our neighbor across the street had this purple tint on the windows on their car. It had bubbled up and become blurry. It was like riding in a car while intoxicated. lol The windows on the top floor of ACC's Pinnacle Campus are the same way. It ruins the view.

Looks like there's a christmas tree with white lights and a red star of some sort on the southwest corner of Spring.

Very Appealing...

Architects appealing Austin's choice of library designer

Protest cites no specific reason other than 'deficiency in the solicitation process or award.'

By Tony Plohetski
AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF

http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/12/19/1219contract.html

A team of architects recommended by city staff to design Austin's new central library but rejected by the City Council last week is appealing the council's decision to hire another firm for the $7.2 million contract.

The group, called Barnes Gromatsky Kosarek Architects and Taniguchi with Holzman and Moss, notified the city Monday of its decision, according to a memo from city staff to Mayor Will Wynn and council members sent late Wednesday. The architects did not cite a reason for their appeal.

I was downtown today and noticed a truck delivering new crane pieces at the Austonian site. I Guess they are going to raise the crane again. I miss the construction updates on the old Austonian website.

Yea Im pretty sure they are raising the crane I was there lastnight and looking at how close the building is to the crane, I couldn't see how they could continue to go up without raising it this weekend.

I'm not sure. The crane for the Frost Bank Tower was 600 feet. It went 85 feet over the roof of the building. So going by that the crane for The Austonian could be 768 feet. Of course I don't think there's a set height they build cranes to above a building's roof. 360's crane was also supposed to be 600 feet tall.

yea 360's crane was only a couple dozen feet above the top of the needle...if that. my guess is the crane will be about 720' at its maximum height.

ohhh and the crown of the frost tower has been fixed

Anyone know how tall the Austonian "crown" is supposed to be? Also, I assume it will just be just an architectural piece for aesthetic purposes and no one will actually live inside it? (expect for Elfs and Tinkerbells of course)

Im so glad that the architects are fighting over who should get the project that only means good news for us because usually when architects fight over something the overall design of the project gets 10x better.

Does anyone know what's going on at the future Marriot site across the street from the Austonian? Looks like they are doing some site prep and tearing down a building. If I remember correctly the project is on hold.
