Have you ever lived in an apartment building before?

This thread is for discussion of the development itself, not the purchase of the units. Further off topic posts will be deleted. Please stay on topic.

Sir, yes sir!

Anyways... back to the topic... Apparently, I just realized that there will still be a lot of free land that is only used as parking lots even after the two residential towers are completed. I think this project will be huge...

I sort of hail from that part of town, and what I think there might be more of are mid-rises, but nothing like what's happenig at Brentwood. Then again,
one never knows. Who would have predicted Brentwod as it is becoming now, 25 years ago?

I can't wait to see a picture from this angle with all the completed towers in the area...

Brentwood
Solo
Aviara
Gilmore Station
and then those last car dealer ships along lougheed are bound to go soon too.

I hope the market can support all of this though. I really think the success of the area is hinging on the success of the Brentwood mall redevelopment. Phase 3 and 4 of Solo and Phase 2 of Aviara are probably waiting to see how Brentwood does with its first tower.

I am mostly worried about the traffic jam and the crowded skytrain... Especially after the Evergreen line is completed

I agree, the market is always a concern.

However, Brentwood hasn't exactly received many units over the last few years.

Vantage is the last to complete, but before that tower there was years long lull.

SoLo units are already accounted for, as is Aviara.

Only Amazing remains a question mark.

Contrast that with the amount of units completing/UC in Metrotown.

I sincerely hope not.

That stretch of Hastings, in my opinion, is one of the best last "old Vancouver" streets left in town.

Lots of local shops, quirky studios, just great. Doesn't need to be ruined by generic retail/height/crowding.

The mid rises going up along there are already doing enough damage.

The are a lot of planned developments in the Brentwood area but sales will definitely determine which ones start and how soon. I believe that as the area improves with amenities and services that will attract more to the developments as they come on stream. Brentwood mall revamp and the Solo retail will be a big boost.

Altus is only the second phase of Solo and it isn't sold out yet. Let alone the next two phases that will add another 500+ units. Then there is the second phase of Aviara which will be much taller than the first.

yes but neither of them are finished and still selling from what I understand. I also don't believe there are any announced start dates for Solo III or IV or for Aviara II.

are those two towers rendered much larger than they would be in reality?

It was previously decided that the building floor plates are inordinately large for Vancouver, so likely those renders are accurate both in height and width.

The things will be huge.

Granted the render doesn't show SoLo which will rival Amazing in height, but not in width. The SoLo towers are much more sleek.

Checking out the solo info, the top of solo altus will only be about 30 ft (3 floors) lower than the Amazing, and the spire will add another 40 ft . But Amazing is on higher ground by a couple of floors. They will be close in height for sure. definitely dwarfing the older developments.
