Oh I've heard of it, I just don't know what the setup is going to be like. I don't want to be standing outside in the middle of rain watching on TV or whatever. So is it going to be in a big tent or something ?

But yea...damn, those fireworks must've been huge. From my house they sound a bit louder than the Celebration of Light. loll...i should've kept running with the torch all the way to Yaletown. :p

It's not Gretzky for the final torch bearer

So I'm wondering if this means it's not Betty Fox either.

The Federal government is all but demanding that a young aboriginal person light the cauldron. VANOC had other ideas.

I bet the government wins.

The federal government has many, many whacky ideas and VANOC hasn't given in to any of them...yet. And at the end of the day, the IOC needs to approve the final torchbearer (as well as any potential backups).

For instance, the fed's suggestion for the torch design was to make it look like the Northwest Territories legislature mace:

http://www.assembly.gov.nt.ca/_live/pages/wpPages/virtualtourgreathall.aspx

"Dead animal parts shall inspire the design for our Olympic torch!"

It happens. There was a guy who got transferred from transportation into ceremonies. And now he's gone again. Some others have dropped in during the last week, although the majority have been here since November.

We already use the Inukshuk as our logo, we deserve something BC for our torch design. I'm glad they went with this current torch design.

I am on the VOD (volunteer on demand) squad. And can get called out at an hour's notice. Also, quite a few volunteers have quit because I guess they didn't realize they would probably spend a lot of time standing or standing around (even though they constantly repeat that to you to lower your expectations)
