Hopefully they hurry to install webcam security cameras with night vision and complete coverage of the tank site so future criminals can be identified and charged. Having the live webcam feed would be a great addition as many enjoy viewing webcams from around the world as a tourism and marketing tool.

The Western Fair is back this year and they are making a very big change. The fair is moving across the road, to the Agrilplex and Sports Centre parking lots on the south side of Florence. The vaccination site has moved into the smaller arena at the Agriplex and the main room is now the lifestyle exhibits we were used to seeing in the Progress Building. There will also be food vendors in there. The adult midway will be between the arena and agriplex, kiddyland will be on the south side of the agriplex. The concert grandstand is now in the Olympic Bowl in the arena.

Parking will be on the north side of Florence, and you can either cross at the lights, or use the underpass at the west side of the parking lot to walk under Florence. There is also an entrance at the east end at Egerton St. When I first saw the map I thought they were crazy, but I imagine the fair has downsized a bit, and this area on the south side of Florence is a lot larger than it appears. Especially the area to the south of the agriplex, which is where the Beer Fest used to be held. I think people on the north side of Dundas who used to make money on parking might not be happy.

Its interesting how the vaccination clinic is still going to run alongside the fair. I would assume you will still be able to access it free of charge? What's to stop you from saying you want a jab but then just go to the fair instead? Perhaps gate #2 in that photo you shared is for shots only.

I doubt the entrance to the agriplex will be behind the gate. You have that small plaza area in front of the entrance that will still be open to the street so people can access the clinic. Then gate 2 will be to the side of that where the circular driveway is. And fairgoers trying to go into the agriplex would access it from the kiddyland side.

Proportionately, the sprawl is worse in London.

Not overly meaningful to compare city boundary maps. Would look even stranger if you overlayed the City of Greater Sudbury over London and the GTA.

Well this is an interesting development.

The former Mount Elgin Golf Club which was sold and had a major new Clubhouse and halfway house built as well as some course redesigns done to it during the pandemic. Re-opening as the Oxford Hills Golf Club is now on the market for $22M. The realtor link with photos is below.

I’m surprised it’s the most unhappy out of 100 cities but not surprised it’s bad. London simply has a lot of negatives like a disgusting downtown, homelessness, ugly architecture, sprawl, no real attractions or much to do, no natural beauty, bad transit and roads, bad planning, no vision. The list could go on. I think the change starts with building an attractive downtown which will take a lot of vision and money, but most plans are shelved.

Nowhere to go but up I guess. But ya we do lag behind other major cities in a lot of ways. We're still the largest city in Canada without a green bin program, and we declared a climate emergency? At least that is planned to roll out soon (hopefully).... but just citing an example.
