I think in 5 years the before and after photos will be the most dramatic change we'll ever see.

Once all the towers get built I should go out to Austin and make another video like this...

This isn't mine.

Video Link

I think I may have already put them on here, but not sure. These are soo cool. Some of them bring back memories of when I had my car and I'd just be driving around Austin. I don't drive much these days.

This one is of the W during construction. Someone should do something similar to that if and when Greenwater or Fairmont gets built!

This is an old one... from 2007. At :25 you can see some cranes... I'm not sure what from. Probably when they were building the Amli, but Amli was finished in 2006. Either way, its cool. And what I like the most about these videos is that all of the tracks have that same vibe that I get from Austin, if that makes sense.

This one is kind of odd.

This is pretty cool. See Austin's development growth from 1984 to 2012 in satellite images.

Wow, Mike. Those skyline shots are great. I love those last few with it glowing from the sunlight. Where was that hot air balloon? I like those skyline views looking through the grass at Butler Park.

The hot air balloon was in that grassy area of Zilker Park just east of Mopac. I passed right by it later, after I had crossed the lake from north to south on the Mopac Pedestrian Bridge and was on the trail headed towards Lou Neff Point.

Just noticed the Rhodesian Ridgebacks with the booties on. Sort of humiliating for such a hearty dog. Is this common on dogs dt?

It's a good idea to have your dog wear shoes if you live in an urban neighborhood and walk your dog a lot. It's not so much because it's hot, of course it hasn't been very hot lately anyway. The biggest reason is to protect them against canine illnesses that can be passed along by them stepping where an infected dog has been or even stepping in that dog's poop, and then licking their paws and then getting sick. It's just a good idea. Parvo is the big reason. There was as an outbreak of it last summer in Texas and a lot of dogs died. A friend of my mom's who breeds poodles lost all but one puppy from two litters they had because of Parvo. They lost 6 puppies I believe. My sister also lost 4 of her dogs because of it. My mom's friends probably picked up Parvo at a dog show. My sister thinks their neighbor's dog was sick, because right before her dogs became sick, her neighbor's dog disappeared - presumably it died as well.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks definitely are hearty dogs. They were originally bred by Europeans to help with hunting lions.

That's actually a pretty well framed out and nice picture from just a camera phone.

It reminds me of the Emerald City skyline scene in the Wizard of Oz. It just as a sort of odd otherworldly loo to it. That's a cool photo. I really think composition is more important than what kind of equipment you're shooting/editing with.

It is a really cool pic. What struck me was how distinct the colors of the different buildings in downtown are. A result of post-processing I'm sure, but it gives the effect of an old colorized film -- where individual items were colored in (not saying the photographer did that, just that the effect used gives it that feel).

That in addition to the fact that it is a rare on-the-water perspective makes it really cool and unique to the forum. Thanks smithlua! Did you take it from a kayak or boat?

From one of the party boats. That's something I'd never even thought of before to get some good pics but I couldn't say no to a work paid trip. It's a great view of everything east of 1st st.

The original pics did turn out too dark so I ran it through a quick editing app.

I know most people on this board don't care or watch this show, but Karl Rove was on O'Reilly last night and his backdrop during the interview was the Austin skyline. It's was clear and prominent. Almost seemed like an advertisement it looked so good. haha

His head does fit nicely in the gap between the W and the Austonian:

Fox News out of all the stations seems to interview people from Austin the most. They usually use the capitol or downtown at night as the back drop though. It's nice to see a clear day view of dt even if it's partially blocked by a huge Rove head.
