Thanks everyone.

hollywoodnorth: I do have a pic of the bridge but it is more artsy than documentative. It is from Thursday, Jan 7.

Thanks. I'll see if I can check it out next time I'm in town. I actually went there for a year when it was OUC North Campus.

my friend and i were looking at the Mode condos right across from this place, the agents were saying this was going to be a mixed use building. commercial on the bottom and apartments up top. the whole area behind the landmark buildings is supposed to become a new "midtown" neighborhood.

the sutherland and burtch 4-way stop has now been turned into a proper intersection with lights in order to flow traffic more smoothly because of all the development planned.

thanks for all the photos again, and you really should check out the UBC-O campus. you'd be shocked at how much has changed (it's changed dramatically since my first year, 3 years ago, as well)

I've always thought that the landmark area should become a midtown type area with apartment highrises and stuff. So that's cool that it sounds like it's actually the plan. And is that intersection at sutherland and burtch really have lights now? That is awesome! I've thought they should do that for a long time. I always complain when I go through that intersection haha. It was sketchy before.

Came across a PDF for the newly announced Heart and Surgical Center ( Jan 25, 2010 ). Though others might be interested in it also. Quite an addition to the current construction...

The second and third readings for the CD 21 zone were rescinded (aka "the new downtown plan") - so the plan is essentially back to square one:

Also, the proposal to build 1,500 units on the Marshall Feed Lot was shot down:

here's some good news, especially for the lakshore/pandosy area:

http://www.castanet.net/edition/news...3-1-.htm#53033

and, more good news! a pedestrian/cyclist overpass is being built:

http://www.castanet.net/edition/news...0-1-.htm#53030

the overpass will cross from the landmark buildings to parkinson rec center over highway 97.

Hey,

The Tallest U/C In Your City thread has been reactivated recently and in hopes of updating the list I am going from city thread to city thread to see if the tallest under construction has changed recently.

I currently have the Skye listed as the tallest in Kelowna. If this is completed or something taller is underway just message me or post it here and I'll add it to the list.

Ok cool. If there is anything else under construction just mention it here and I'll check the thread later otherwise I'd have to remove Kelowna from the list.

What is likely the next tower project to commence in Kelowna? And when?

(I thought there were still 2 or 3 approved projects around the 20 floor mark or above for Kelowna).

24?

Lucaya?

Lucaya and the Conservatory are still shut down, no action on either from what I have heard. 24 sales centre is still shut down, no idea what is going on with that project. SOPA Square (11 story tower) seems to be going ahead, they are tearing down the existing buildings there right now. The big 4 story wood frame on Harvey in Lake Country is on the go again too. Noticed action there last time I drove past, it had been shut down for at least a year or two.

Would love to end up living in one of these units, but definitely out of my price range.
