What is everyone's opinion about this design? This is definitely reminiscent of the Olympic Tower and the 670 Mesquit Complex. We've been receiving quite a bit of eco urban skyscrapers. Attention-grabbing, nonetheless.

"The proposed project would also include about 6,500 square feet of office space and 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. The hotel would have a 3,000-square-foot restaurant. There would be 499 parking stalls, with five levels underground and four above grade. The ground floor would hold retail space and lobbies for the different sections, while the office component would take up the next three levels. The hotel would cover the 5th-18th floors. Designs from the Downtown-based architecture firm Gensler show a more experimental look than most projects in the Central City. Entitlements are currently being sought, according to a representative from the engineering and consulting firm Psomas. No groundbreaking or budget has been revealed.

I honestly can't tell if i like it. I'll give props for the sheer audacity though

*edit I think it would look miles better if that roof addition was axed.

I don't know what to say. Part of me wishes it would just be simple like Onni's stuff, but then part of me thinks this could be LA's next landmark. However at the same time it could age horribly, but yet I cant look away.

It will be iconic though, that's for sure. As ugly as it is (yet it is also beautiful) I am kind of glad LA will be getting its first actual weird crazy iconic tower. This very well could end up being our Gerkin or Spaceneedle.

I really want to like it. It's certainly not a 7 story shit box that's for sure. It needs a bit of fine tuning that's for sure.

Yeah there a lot of unused private parking that could be rented out to non-residents in a lot of building. I remember reading somewhere that on average about 30% of parking in private structures go unused at night.

Not sure why buildings don't sell these extra spots. Might be a place where the government can facilitate some sort of market to make this happen.

I like your idea too.

I'll take that over any of the other mediocre crap being built/proposed south of Pico. It's Gensler, how bad could it be?

It'll definitely compliment Olympic Tower.

It's awful. Just awful. It looks like it was designed by drunk toddlers with building blocks. I sure hope for LA's sake that doesn't get built. Ridiculous.

It's def Gensler trying to be pretentious and OMA-like. Not their forte...

I really like the middle bit, with the gap. If that could be the dominating design through out the height it would have been amazing. With a more subtle base, and not whatever is going on up top.

I'll take it though.

I'd rather have a tall and sleek Libeskind tower.. that's something you never see in LA and would definitely stand out

It will absolutely grab your attention. I could do without that thing on the top. Ill have to see more renders or something. Ill remain agnostic on it.
