^As nice as a new central library might be it sure would be nice to use that money for light rail or to help fund the huge shortfall of police officers right now.

Don't worry. More photos coming this weekend. They were moving up the floor supports to start working on floor 29 this morning.

Where does that keep coming from? I thought that rumor was laid to rest long ago?

ok these posts need to stop...The Austonian will be 56 stories and 683 feet tall...why would they have a half-way party this week if they were gonna stop at 30? some people forget that this project has the backing of one of the largest real estate companies in the world. end of discussion.

But they also promised a dog crap robot.... The cutbacks start small and next thing you know it's a dozen floors gone.

I'm thinking though that the design will be different. This rendering shows three towers. Those smaller two towers have been canceled. The project hasn't been made smaller, infact it's larger, but they placed all the hotel rooms in a single tower. They're calling it 26 floors, but it was supposedly 34 floors at one point.

And of course greenbelt's rendition of it if it were about three times as tall and plagued with a big gorilla. Also notice the giant people eating pigeons.
Now I see why people were saying it would be ugly. Hope the basic design is radically different from this.

There's been a rumor going around DANA since the parking garage-only rumor was proved wrong. This rumor says that the Austonian will stop at 35 floors. So I guess the party was a 4/5ths party, not a half-way party. Only six floors to prove this one wrong.

I think they should continue to build it to 62 stories just to piss-off the handwringers, rumormongers and naysayers.

I think the developers will knock the building down and put the automatic pooper scooper on the vacant lot to scoop up the pile of sh*t that everyone thinks it will be!!

No more rumors guys. If you don't have credible info to report than don't post it.

I did not want to be the one to start a rumor but I am an architect downtown and another architect in my firm talk to one of the contractors and was told that the austonian would be crowning off the build soon because of the status of our national economy. I heard this two weeks ago.
