I'm in Kelowna for likely a few months (Long story), so when I go downtown I'll take pictures while I'm here.

Wow! It's amazing seeing three large multi tower projects all at different stages going up in downtown Kelowna at the same time.

Really cool photo. A few years ago I could never have imagined a project of this size in Kelowna, let alone at this location. It's such a huge project it is almost inevitable that it'll help clean up that area of town. One of Basran and previous council's legacies for this city for sure.

Bertram tower - 34 floors
UBC-O - 43 floors
Water st by The Park - 42 floors

All under construction at the same time…..what a time to be alive in downtown Kelowna.

Subtrades and suppliers are going to be slammed!

Plus you have some really solid projects going up along Lakeshore in the Mission.

Kelowna's experiencing its biggest building boom in decades right now.

There have already been impressive changes over the past 5 years or so. This next 5 will really change the face of the city though with all of these major projects coming online.

Now we just need the province to fund some major highway and transit expansion projects.

Was hard to type that with a straight face!

Still waiting for those finalized plans for the two interchanges planned in......2014.

Does anyone know how many units/bedrooms//residents all these projects will bring to downtown? I feel like downtown is going to be a bit more lively (and thus safer) once more residents are living there.

Thanks JayMi. So realistically we're looking at some 2000 more residents scattered around downtown once these projects go live. I'm basing this off of 1 resident per studio or 1 bedroom and 2 per 2 bedroom. I'm surprised none of these buildings have 3 bedrooms. No wonder why we don't see a lot of families downtown during the week.

Water St By The Park does have a 3+den floorplan you can see here

It's only available on 8 floors, and is starting at $1,389,000. I could not stomach putting a pre-construction deposit down on something so expensive.

My mistake. There should be 50 - 3 bedroom units part of the development permit.

Units – 650 (1 Bedroom – 316, 2 Bedroom – 284, 3 Bedrooms - 50)

Okay that's really neat. Although I'm curious how many of those 3 bedroom units will be occupied by families with kids versus roommates sharing an expensive condo. For a healthy downtown you kind of want to have families living there too.

How can they “not even be close to construction even if given the money today” for the interchanges at Boucherie and Westlake roads? Have these not been in the design phase for nearly a decade now? I think that’s enough time to plan two interchanges.

Also curious to how they will approach the elimination of the couplet through downtown Westbank…

The sensible approaches would be to tunnel the highway under downtown Westbank followed by the less favorable option of a new free flow bypass around the core.

But those are the more big thinking long term solutions that would be done in all other developed countries.

I bet what we get is converting either Dobbin Rd. or Main St. into an even busier at grade stroad.

At bare minimum the 20 year plan should be upgrading the 97 between the Connector interchange and the bridge into a free flow artery and upgrading the 97 between UBC and the south end of Vernon into a free flowing artery, especially since the far superior second crossing and free flowing relocated 97 via Clement is dead.

Sure bookending Kelowna with two free flowing sections of the 97 will cause huge issues for Harvey, but this is the path the province (and city now) have chosen, so may as well demand the best we can get out of that…

More like seven + the one in your pictures. That one is a nine story BC housing project that i haven't seen much activity on in a couple weeks.

This is five residential with one commercial while at the end of Benvoulin Crt is two residential being built by Traine. Besides all this there is the midtown development on the other side of Dilworth.

It is pretty crazy right now, I believe there is 13 tower and self erect cranes around town on all the projects.
