That smoke in one of your photos must be from that big fire where the tower crane came down.

I think it may be from the abandoned building at E 10th & Guelph, which has had a series of fires.

Yes, it was a hot and smoky day in some parts of Vancouver yesterday.
This pic is looking east from Broadway and Cambie. It was the fire near Kingsgate Mall.

I was driving down from Burnaby Heights when I saw the 10th and Guelph fire, and I seriously thought it could have been my building for a minute. Mildly panicking.

EDIT #2, this looks like a Northern Red Oak.
There are broadly two types of oaks, red and white. Red oaks have pointy leaves, white oaks have rounded leaves. There are about 8 or 10 species native to Ontario, the most common being northern red oak. Some of them are very difficult to tell apart.

26C (humidex of 27) and sunny. Beautiful day but a bit too dry for my liking.

Low of 14C this morning. Last 2 days we had our coolest nights of the summer.

The warmspot was Little Chicago, NWT at 35.9C. The territories beating Lytton. Nice.

Warmest low was St. Paul Island, NS at 19.0C.

Looks like Tropical Storm Debby will affect us this weekend. I am expecting 100mm+ in several places.

Currently, the storm is still over very warm water about to make landfall in South Carolina in maybe an hour or 2.

Yeah, I was discussing this with a stewardship lead I work with. It looks more like a Northern Red (AFAIK), but I'll check more closely next week when I come back to the area (with my camera in tow).

We hit 24C in Toronto today, and with minimal humidity it made for a nice day to be outside.

Looks like a perfect summer week and weekend. mid 20s right through till next Weds. No rain forecast. And I get out of the office again early Friday. A chance to give the New bike a good test run (Wife Bought me a new gravel Bike).

Lots happening hear this weekend so planning to be tired Monday.

Friday night Rockin August in St Albert (classic Car Show, last year 700 cars registered). Carawest on Sat, then baseball Sat Evening. And Sunday our annual bike ride to Elk Island NP. About a 100km ride.

And not included is folk fest. but looks like the hill will be dry this year.

Yesterday was very comfortable, high of 25 and moderate humidity. Today we are back to the ultra muggy wall of heat, 27 with a humidex of 37. Humid again tomorrow, then a very nice looking weekend ahead with temps around 25 and cooler nights.

16C, a little humid and generally overcast in Moncton at 8 AM, going up to 21C this afternoon. There will be some showers developing early this afternoon, our first taste of Debby, but, we are going to miss the worst of the storm in southeastern NB. There are heavy rainfall warnings out for western and northern NB.

Red - rainfall warning, grey - special weather statement

Woodland trail - typical Acadian forest.

Sandpipers, gorging and fattening up on the mud flats at Johnson's Mill, near Dorchester, about 40 km from Moncton. Next stop for the little buggers is South America. They have to make it there within 72 hours migrating entirely over the ocean. This is their pit stop.
