Question: Is construction proceeding on the WTC 1 itself?

Its amazing, just three months ago, there was hardly a picture on this forum but now that you can kinda start to see where things are going to be, this forum has erupted into photos! I love it! I think searching for the WTC site is how I found ssp. This project is just so incredibly fascinating watching it go up.

And yes Shakman, it is, slowly but surely.

Those trees if they are deciduous, will look amazing in the fall..., hopefully they'll be different species for color variation during peak fall color...,

I remember reading that they were chosen because of the color changes...

Another AP photo of the tower and the pool. You can see how much more steel has risen above the south core.

It's great to see so much progress being made on both Tower One and the Memorial. Things really are moving much more quickly now.

Yes, anyone who still doubts the Freedom Tower will rise just hasn't been paying attention, or just hasn't a clue.

More from wtc.com

Eventually Fulton St in front of the Freedom Tower...

All future references to rebuilding the Twins or any other policital nonsense will be deleted. Take the debate elsewhere.

So, this may be a dumb question but... what is being done to prevent certain people from hopping over the railing and falling down in there? It is almost guaranteed to happen...

Sort of like people jumping off of the Empire State, but I would imagine there are safeguards planned. You don't get everything in the rendering.

I bet they'll wind up doing a glass wall around the perimeter of the falls, sort of like what they put up when they renovated the Top of the Rock observatory...

^^^

6345 feet!!!!!! The pit of doom! No, Actually I think they are supposed to be about 40 ft deep. Then the smaller pit in the middle will be about 20 ft deep. I couldnt find any real dimensions from the website, except for the width. So its probably off but judging from the photos, thats what it looks like roughly.
