A north-south oriented tunnel that would end at TCH 1 where it enters Vancouver and heads towards the north shore. It would be a north-south corridor for Hwy 99 that would link to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal and Whistler. I've attached a crude reference map:
As an aside, the BC government is constructing the "Caribou Connector" between Cache Creek and Prince George by twinning Hwy 97. As TCH 1 between Cache Creek and Hope can't really be widened (hence why the Coquihalla Hwy exists), a 4 lane link could
theoretically be constructed between Cache Creek and Whistler via Hwy 99. The terrain would make that project very expensive.
