A bit off-topic, so NYguy, please feel free to delete, but the buildings in the foreground here look like a perfect opportunity for redevelopment into something tall(ish). The corner building and the two adjacent buildings to the left don't look that architecturally significant, and you could easily get a 900+ ft. tall tower on that combined lot.

wow, it looks like only three small ‘floors’ of the topmost crown section to go.

that is not going to take long depending also on what hvac or whatever they haul up to install there.

what exactly does go in this uppermost section anyway? is there a schematic of it? certainly its put to some use. just curious since we’re at the finish line.

edit — looking back on the thread i see its four floors of mechanicals above the last occupied floor, but then like four floors of i dk what at the very top if that helps.

All the levels in the final segment (above 57) are mechanical levels. They aren’t considered to be actual floors by the DOB.

that is somewhat explanatory, but i wonder what they mean by mechanical equipment?

that could be the window cleaning rigs i suppose.
