Can you swim in Lake Ontario ? (Real question) And why does every post has to be about Toronto ? It’s so tiring and demotivating. Sorry to disappoint but the inspiration for this project is not Toronto but Malmö.
If it was proposed for London Ontario, the poster would have been completely ga-ga over it.

Hopefully it, or something like it, happens.

Yes, I do every summer, out on the island has the best beaches for that and those beaches have some of the cleanest water you could ask for.

I for one love the plan for that land in Montreal. Fake urban beaches are fine for city centre's, Sugar Beach and a few others like it here are very popular places for people to chill out and relax.montreals riverfront could use more of this type of redevelopment.

I'm very happy to see an announcement for this project! A much needed addition for the city, and yes better than a baseball stadium, which would have been a waste of money and space.

Nice to see them preserve the church. Take note Toronto developers.

This local developer, Windmill, have done quite a few of these partnerships with churches. They've already built two and have two more planned (including this one). They are also known for some of the most sustainable developments in Canada. They started the Zibi redevelopment, now a partnership between Dream (Distillery District in Toronto) and Theia Partners (subsidiary of Windmill).

Ugly addition. The world is better place with one less place of worship.

I dunno. Some of the most beautiful buildings in Canada are Cathedrals and Churches.

They make interesting multi-family conversions despite the claims they all get demolished.

It has not been a place of worship for years. It's an events venue and restaurant.

Is that objectively true or are you just ranting on a page dedicated to skyscrapers?

Dedicated to skyscrapers? The proposal in question that led me to state my opinion on the aspects of its incorrectly presumed usage is like 8 storeys tall. The broader Canadian section discussions are anything but dedicated to skyscrapers.

15 million people starving to death every year can't be traced to groups more interested in growing their flock over sound family planning is ranting.

I never said it wasn't a nice addition to the public realm just that calling it a beach seems like an awfully big stretch.

As for the Ottawa church proposal, I think it may not be a beauty but it's very convenient............after seeing this monstrosity, people will quickly be able to say confessional lest they think they have gone to hell.

Farine five roses isn't part of the development so far as I can tell, it's very much still in operation and is on the bikerdyke pier on the other side of the bridge.

This on is u/c in Ottawa. Taller tower will be the third tallest in Downtown proper. A new tallest with similar design is u/c next door.

I was unimpressed when the first cladding went up. However, these will end up alright.

The praise these are getting is in contrast to Claridge's boxy blandness prominence than being well executed quality designs. A 6 out of ten getting the pomp of a 10 out of 10 for being better than a 4 out of 10.
