I don't use the Ring Road much either but again, it's the busiest road in Saskatchewan and there are trains going across it multiple times a day forcing vehicles to sit there idling burning fuel and spewing exhaust without moving for long periods of time.

Moving the tracks is in now way a vanity project it must be done for the betterment of the city and it’s future growth once it’s completed watch projects move forward , besides all that would you want to be in an accident being held up by a train I think not , those tracks where out there so many years ago things change we must move forward not in a stale Mate for the next fifty years Regina deserves so much better

Minor Downtown Changes

Since I've recently started working downtown again I noticed a few small projects completed. The new HSBC back branch is open and TD has also renovated their main location. Both look pretty slick, TD has several big pictures of Regina scenes, which I unfortunately didn't get good photos of, but have a few to show. The TD bank branch was particularly dated but modernized now:

HSBC looks fantastic! I’m guessing it’s in suite 115?

What is going on 110?

A construction update photo on my local construction project. The new Argyle/St. Pius school is moving along nicely with 3 elevator shafts built and the steel going up.

Also, slated to begin this week is the new MUP along Pasqua St south and 25th Ave. I like the design of this MUP and based on the amount of cyclists/pedestrians that use this stretch of road, this will be heavily used and provide a safe place away from vehicle traffic. I'd love to see the city have a MUP that goes along the south storm channel along the Par 3 and down Pasqua to connect to the main MUP as there's already a MUP along Kinsmen Park South and goes a reasonable distance, but that remains a pipe dream.

Perhaps the simpler solution is to just have a MUP run the whole way along Pasqua all the way to the existing pathway along the creek.

Definitely. However, there's already a detached portion of MUP that runs along the storm channel for several kilometres south of Lakeview Ave, and I think it would make sense to have a connection go along the storm channel until it intersects with Pasqua.

Wouldn't that be something? It's a good thing our provincial government has such a good relationship with the feds...

A motion is headed to city council to change the density goal for urban planning...to lessen density. This will encourage larger lots and greater sprawl, moving the city in a backwards direction. Very unfortunate if it passes.

The argument is that if we don't let people build giant houses on giant lots, they will then move to White City and deprive us of local taxes. While that is an issue...this motion isn't the answer.

Wouldn't these people be doing that anyway? How does making lots bigger will keep them in Regina?

Not to mention that these rich folks can just buy multiple connecting lots to build a giant house.

We could have 14 Liberals representing Saskatchewan and we still would have a snowball's chance in hell in landing that Moderna project. We simply don't have the intellectual infrastructure. Saskatoon, with it's vaccine research, at least has a slim chance.

Why do they need 3 elevators?

I would imagine one each for the separate schools (since they are effectively closed off to each other's staff and students). Maybe another for the community daycare/centre area?

Actually, I remember seeing the plans a while back, and I think there are two on the St. Pius side since it's a three-storey school, while Argyle is only two floors. I could be wrong!

Actually yes, that's true. The first half (Argyle) is being built beside the existing Argyle. Then, students will move into new Argyle while the old one is torn down and replace by the new St. Pius, and then the following year St. Pius students will move in, and the old St. Pius will be torn down. So one of those is likely an elevator, and the other two are stairwells.

This is a good example of how they never get the real benefit out of these joint schools. Can't even share an elevator.

I know I am rather alone in this view - but I think the GTH could turn around.
