the digging got extremely deep today near the second tower centre. will send a pic over the weekend, but it’s almost as if they dig the base of each tower extremely deep below the just like someone mentioned above regarding that cantilever process typically done in denmark

There is no method here. It is pure incompetence.

I have seen 5 story underground foundations both dug and poured faster than this boondogle that has been going on for over 1.5 years now.

Anyway… who invited the loon to the conversation

Pouring is commencing for the 2nd tower base - seems like an identical process of the first one.

While King Ralph has been overly negative for years, he couldn't be more correct about Baydo. Joke of a company - they were delayed this summer because of safety concerns. I have not heard one good comment about this company (in the construction world) and I am fascinated about Roryn's love for them (and Starbucks) and distain for the River Landing. I guess differences in opinions is what makes the world spin.

Hmmm…first post I see. Welcome to the forum! I have a sneaking suspicion this is King Ralph’s alt account

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions and state roryn1 “loves” Baydo. I think they just have a general appreciation for their ambition to develop in Saskatoon - a city relatively devoid of big construction projects in the 2000s/2010s. Whether those developments are good or bad is a different story.

I think that if more people experienced the poor quality 1960-80’s condos that are next to this development, they’d truely be excited about what looks like a mediocre development that will force neighbouring borderline slum buildings to kick it into high gear once more modern competition like this gets brought on to the market here. Everyone thinks they’re fancy but let me tell you, most of them are borderline going to claim bankruptcy lol.

I highly recommend people go check out condos in The Terrace, Carlton, The View, Hallmark. You’ll be very surprised how ages/damaged a good chunk of their core amenities are. They are all in dire need of upgrades. This new tower is definitely going to spruce up the neighborhood.

I agree this is the longest going dig and the least amount of progress I ever seen, but it's going

like roryn says. even 20% upgrade of local stock, at least an upgrade. furnished like broadway, or unfurnished? Downtown arena and library coming soon. Close to UofS. 2x25 in toon! take it. Just hope it doesn't fall down in 5 years

Some of the comments made by King Ralph and other posters are correct. The excavation is taking a long time, it looks like Baydo is figuring things out as they go, the building isn't esthetically pleasing, etc.

The problem is, at some point this thread has simply become an exercise in who can most effectively denigrate the project. Criticism is welcome, but if you are simply re-hashing comments made all the way back when the project was first proposed, you are contributing NOTHING of value to the forum.

Competing with others to come up with the best "burn" of one of the only companies building large-scale projects in Saskatoon is childish, and it can hardly be considered constructive criticism.

The neighboring buildings are in ten times rougher shape - like we could see the fire department evicting these old 1960 buildings next door lol. They also have a tenth the amenities, less retail than what this project is adding to the neighborhood. This should be a golden project for people that like urban living here lol. Have ya‘lol see the facade, windows, and balcony sizes of the neighboring buildings huge improvement to the neighborhood!

My neighbouring building has the highest amount of fire department infractions in the province - higher than that west side building that was evicted a couple of months ago. We’re not exactly starting from the middle when it comes to beautiful high rises here in Saskatoon lol. This is what a medium priced condo looks like in every centre - prove me wrong on that lol. Not even most lawyers can afford No 1 River Landing, which has half of the amenities and retail of this project.

Cheers to densification for medium income people like me. Guess the haters are are living in $2M homes

Thanks for the updates roryn1. It looks like they installed a climbing scaffold around the north tower's elevator core.

Is this the first residential condo in Saskatoon with multiple underground parkade levels/elevator access to each of those levels?

I'm sure that No.1 River Landing has elevator access to it's multi-level parkade. Same with the Renaissance Condo, I believe.

Thanks for the continuing update photos, roryn1.

In addition to the really unusual shoring method on this project (either by choice or by necessity), the other thing that strikes me as unique is the forming for the core. It appears to be precast concrete permanent forms bolted together and then filled with redi-mix concrete. I'm curious to see if that is actually what's happening. Certainly not a system that I'm familiar with.

It's good to see progress being made, even if this is the slowest project ever. But hey, with the issues they've run into, at this point I'm just happy to see they're still at it. Aesthetics aside, this will be an amazing addition to that corner.

Thanks for the much-appreciated photo updates!
