From the 300 main thread via Wpg_Guy:

That image really gives a good scale to just how big this space is... Really could make or break the east exchange.

Once the rust colour evens out I think it'll look great.

I love this project, I really hope they put that sign up from the renders. If I had one thing I'd change, I wish they would have (re)installed a cornice detail above the main floor windows/door where there clearly used to be one. It will forever look damaged.

^ Good point re: the sign. It wouldn't take much to get it done either... a sheet metal shop could probably cut those characters in a day.

On that note, it's surprising that more Exchange projects haven't incorporated that style of signage. A lot of those signs have been removed over the years, but as I recall even in the 80s they were still fairly common. They are part of the Exchange's vernacular...maybe it's time to bring them back!

Heritage Winnipeg should be all over it!!

In all seriousness though, if that was part of the approved plan and they don't do it – the city should go back to them and enforce it, like they did with that building on Sherbrook. And should have with 98m.

I saw today on twitter that Centreventure has launched the RFP for the Northern site and an EOI for the southern site.

^ Is the timing of this RFP likely to have some impact on the quality of the proposals? I would imagine that not many companies are not bursting with optimism at the moment.

Very good news for the Marketlands development. Interesting having a couple of creative hubs included in the residential building. Good news for Video pool, though I wonder if Winnipeg Film Group feels a little left out? They could certainly use some more up-to-date studio space!

It's nice, but I sure hope the rest of the block gets built out to help it succeed.

That’s good news...

How is the residential component above it getting funded? By whom and when?

It will. That area is hot and it’s only a matter of time.

Great news on the federal funding. It will be nice to have these creative businesses grouped together in a visible “hub”.

Architecturally, every iteration of this design has become more basic and now looks like something straight out of the ‘60s which kind of irks me a bit. Ah well.

I was gonna say. It looks like they brought back the '60's with beige bricks, and a nod to "International style" architecture of those days.

I’m hoping it’s the bad renderings not doing it any justice. The white is a fancy energy producing glass. Hopefully it is a bit more spirited in real life.

Elite level reference (intended or not) to Spirited Energy! I missed the halcyon days of that campaign.

Isn't this supposed to be a year round farmers market? Is that still on?

This is painfully ugly, and it looks like a 60’s commie block. The S+P proposal was so much better and made so much more sense for the site.
