At least ye don't have to say "Some marnin' s'marnin'! Be some marnin' mar'marnin' mar'marnin like s'marnin'."

Not one actually says it anymore, but it is understood. Just means it's a beautiful morning and hopefully tomorrow is the same. Correct response is "Yes and we'll pay for it too."

For my entire life the only nickname I've ever heard commonly used for Toronto is simply pronounce it the way locals too. "Oh you're moving up to TRANNA are ya?" with the same sort of gusto as Oprah speaking ebonics.

I hate "go ahead" on Youtube.

"So you can go ahead and rub the olive oil into the steak, then go ahead and add salt and pepper and pat it down, then go ahead and fire up the barbecue. You can go ahead and put it on when the grill is really hot. Go ahead and turn it when to get those nice grill marks, then go ahead and flip it when you just start to see the juices coming out on top.

Go ahead and take it off, and you can go ahead and put it in some foil for five or ten minutes to let the juices calm down inside. Once it's ready you can go ahead and serve it however you want. You can go ahead and slice it, or you can just go ahead and serve it whole on the plate."

So I had to look up the Go Ahead Eagles. The name could be worse, as when the club was founded it was called "Be Quick". They changed the name to "Go Ahead" a few years later.

From the beginning when Americans started saying go ahead and do whatever it also annoyed the hell out of me. You can say now go ahead and put air in the tire or you could just say now put air in the tire. It's so unnecessary to say go ahead but there's a lot of superfluous things we all say everyday. But the problem is them saying it over and over again for every instruction.

I also have an issue with annoying Canadian accents in youtube videos. It seems there's a higher percentage of annoying accents in Canadian made videos than American ones. And that includes not just the ROC but also people with GTA accents. Talking to someone on the street with a GTA accent is fine for me, I'm used to it. But hearing it on a tutorial video almost takes away from the professionalism of the video. It's why national news anchors tend to have the closest thing to "no accent". Still grateful for the tutorial, but it's just a tiny bit harder for me to listen to it.

A lot of Americans in Youtube videos are replacing medial and final T with a glottal stop and it's really bothering me. I had one video on, either a Vox or Cheddar video of some kind, and she fucking said 'ih'ermih'in in place of intermittent and I fucking choked. I've heard all sorts of shit with this from ca' for cat, presiden' for president (Sarah Huckabee Sanders did that a lot), and mih'ins for mittens. It's either spreading really fast or it's always been there and I didn't notice. Or, no'iss rather. Like, did the tips of their tongues fall off??

Perhaps as a new form of mid-atlantic accent, it has it's charm. Do we really need all of those letters anyway?

Montreal Anglo? Or is very neutral and perhaps sophisticated like I imagine it to be?

Bury pronounced “burr-ee” rather than “bear-ee”. I’ve heard it a number of times in recent weeks. Is it a regional thing?

Always bear-ee around here. Burr-ee sounds weird to my ears.

"Bur-ee" sounds fine to me...I usually think to pronounce say Sudbury is "Sud-bur-ee" rather than "Sud-bear-ee)

Though I guess I have only said the "Bury" part less than a handful of times out loud ever....it just sounds right the way I think it should be.
