If we had more supertalls. But yes Toronto downtown, and sub-downtown areas are pretty remarkable and the size is getting vast. When Yonge-Eglinton and Yorkville are fully up to speed, it will be massive. Throw in East Harbour/Entertainment District/ and Liberty Village downtown will be a colossus.

I didn't think the city was going to allow any really tall buildings in the Port Lands? I thought it was basically going to only allow up to about 30 stories and nearly all the rest being mid-density 10 to 20 stories?

Unfortunately, to add those areas, I would have to expand the size of my model, (which is still rather incomplete) by several times it's present size. I also would like to add elevation to the terrain, instead of everything being on a flat plane. Maybe some day...

I prefer it the way it is, with a few outlying highrise nodes.

Why don't you just save a copy of the model with only the new buildings in their correct elevations, and export it to a format that can be uploaded into google earth (ie KMZ file from sketchup)? And send us the link!

That can't be done.

My model isn't a single file, it's a collection of about 2500 files carefully shaped and positioned. This isn't on sketchup either...

Adding elevation won't alter the look all that much, but it would add a good sense of depth behind the towers where there are hills and valleys. Creating the terrain would be easy, but re-positioning all those buldings, (about 1200 or so) let's just say I'm not looking forward to that...

It's just a proposal, it hasn't been approved. As you said, that tall may not be allowed, and it may be cut down in size... perhaps they are pushing the boundaries to see what they can get away with?

I agree Cal, and in many smaller cities they would be an impressive skyline, but in Toronto they are not as significant lying in the outskirts. I like to postulate their impact and how they would look in the skyline if these skyscrapers were instead built around the CBD.
