Oh wow, that's what I saw behind the hotel, but had no idea what it was. Thanks future mayor. Murray has just been full of surprizes as of late.
Adding another five story building to the mix is a great start for downtown Murray as you already said. I hope "center court" goes right up to vine street like the hotel does.

It's pretty cool how Murray is now coming into its own. I remember how we all use to wonder when it would happen, as Murray's prime location in the Valley can't be overstated enough.

^^^

I think I finally understand the difference between "Building up to the street" and having a setback, a parking lot between the building and the street, etc. I remember asking you guys a year or two ago, and you explaining it to me...but I'm finally getting it. And yeah, that looks great for Murray. If they built that same hotel, but with a parking lot/landscaping between there and the street? Nope. But the way they're doing it, even though it's a smaller hotel? I like that a lot. Hope it gives the surrounding businesses a boost.

Unless they have a phase II planned it won't be continuing to Vine St. There are several houses maybe 3-5 between Center Court and Vine.

I know this has been posted a few years back....but Murray is really on tract with its plan. I don't think Murray Poses a threat to Downtown...Kinda like everyone was scared Sandy did. Does anyone even remember Sandy anymore? lol. But I do see great possibilities for Murray.

I think the BRT down State Street, that has been discussed as an option in the future would be an excellent option and could accelerate the growth of downtown Murray. With E/W busses running along 53rd and 45th, from the Murray S. and Murray N Trax stations would be an easy way to connect Trax/FrontRunner Riders into downtown Murray, or even a short street car segment from Murray South station into the downtown Murray area. I don't see Murray building up to 20-30 story buildings, but I see it developing as a nice mid-rise downtown with great transit access and a nice mix of retail, office, residential and medical.

Yay Daybreak

Utah’s Daybreak lands new stores, including deli, boutique
South Jordan » SoDa Row tenants add retail heft to growing, walkable community.
By TONY SEMERAD
The Salt Lake Tribune

South Jordan • Three new commercial outlets plan to open locations in Daybreak’s SoDa Row shopping district.

Gourmet food seller Granato’s Deli, women’s apparel retailer Nest Boutique and Keller Williams Realty Group, a national real estate franchise, all said they will set up shop this spring in the retail hub of what is Utah’s largest planned urban development.

Daybreak is a 4,126-acre community on the west side of South Jordan, designed and built according to cutting-edge standards for sustainable land use, green space preservation, walkability, energy efficiency and integration with mass transit. It was created 10 years ago by Kennecott Land Company, the land development arm of Kennecott Utah Copper, and its parent corporation, international mining giant Rio Tinto.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Granato's will be such an excellent addition to Soda Row, especially since the proprietors of Cafe Bella Rue changed their name to Zilio's and chose to move to an atrocious location in Sandy.

(No joke. This really happened. Super depressing.)

Now all Soda Row needs is something like an Emigration Market. That would make the immediate area surrounding Soda Row, which is really quite decently dense considering where you are, supremely sweet.

The best we'll get on that site is a group of six story hotels and office building in the middle of a office park much like what we are starting to see at Vista Station. This is a pipe dream at best.

Looks like Draper used some of the City Creek buildings in that rendering. I can see the Regent, Cascade, and Richards Court East. Can you name any other Salt Lake building used?

I've always worried that Utah visitors entering SL County from UT County would mistake Sandy for downtown Salt Lake City.

Exactly my thoughts. That is an entire downtown. I can see density but not on this scale by any means. not even close.

DC has Rosslyn/Crystal City and Tysons...and DC if you consider anything in DC to be skyscrapers.
