I believe that will be the third or fourth Starbucks within a half kilometre radius. Are there plans to close any down? I know for sure there's one in Safeway and another at Indigo.

Good point. I think there's a standalone one by the Sobey's in the strip mall. So this one will be, by my count, the fourth in the general vicinity of the Kenaston & McGillivray corner.

Starbucks standalone tend to have drive thrus while the concession inside a larger store do not. Not sure on the Sobey's strip mall one but the SCU side one should have a drive thru and could be the first in the area.

Also the deal for Starbucks and Safeway has been under review with some locations closing or converting to Tims. Pretty sure the River location converted.

Starbucks is of course and go-to coffee concession inside Save on Foods as well.

^ You might be right on the drive-thru, I don't think any of the existing Starbucks at K & McG are drive thrus.

I remember back in the late 90s when Vancouver used to have a certain civic pride over having two Starbucks at one intersection... who would have thought that less than 20 years later we'd now have one intersection with 4 of them

That video link isn't working. But if you're talking about the hoarding the side where Human Bean used to be, that's where the 2 micro-restaurants are going.

All you need is the alphanumeric portion of the URL. It won't work if you keep the URN and the ref. to youtube.com.

Noscript (Lite) could also be blockin YouTube. You have to allow it by pressing the green +

Is this the video you were trying to post? I highly doubt it...but...

Super Deluxe Pizzeria in the Villa Cabrini space at 433 River has applied for outdoor patio dining and drinking (250 sq. ft.) and if successful, would join Burrito del Rio to the west and the Legion to the east with outdoor space in that little plaza area.

None of the existing have the drive through. I always got the impression that the store in the stripmall was a bit of an afterthought for them.

I love the Commons at the Forks now, and visited F+H this afternoon. Great coffee as always and trick setups for their espresso and v60 pourovers.

Also, wasn't Scott Bagshaw (Deseo, Enoteca, Maque) opening a place at the Forks? Anyone know more about that? That psycho makes some good food.

This was planned for a long time. They were on a month-to-month lease for a while now. The Forks uses a partial sales-based rent system. They were pretty much only keeping them around to avoid having an empty space, but now that the Food Hall is almost done, they will move on to that side of the building to continue renovations. Now that TFNP's offices are all in Union Station, and there's quite a few vacancies on that side (main and second floor), there's going to be massive changes coming.

Not sure if it's open yet but I see Mon Ami Louis on Esplanade Riel has the rails for a patio set up on the bridge. Killer views of the museum and downtown skyline.

St. Vital mall has/had 3 within about a 1 minute radius... Standalone in the mall, Safeway (now Coop), and Chapters.
