i believe it's related to employee safety. the employees of that building (AC, Canadian Tire Data Center, etc) have been returning to work but getting extremely harassed and become a major safety issue. Very bad look on downtown.

That park needs to be replaced by a building right up to the sidewalk. Now that it's been used as a campsite, its use as a park is over.

What needs to happen is Air Canada sell that building and someone else redevelop the grounds.

It's supposed to be a massive crane.

If anyone is looking for last minute gifts, I recently purchased the "Warming Huts" book for myself and for someone as a gift and highly recommend it:

https://www.canadianarchitect.com/bo...ecture-on-ice/

I love architecture and design coffee table books and was excited to see one with so much Winnipeg content in it. The first few 'sections' provide some really interesting commentary and context about the City and the Forks.

I have to say the lighting in the CMHR dove is awesome. This is new or just never used as much? The northern lights displays look amazing!

I thought after privatization Air Canada sold their downtown Winnipeg building to get cash and entered into a long term lease with the new owner.

For a while that seemed to be a trend with a lot of major companies to get easy money in a hot commercial real estate market

I noticed here that the public service was directed to find a spot "along Wellington Crescent between Lindsay and Harrow Street where permanent public access to the Assiniboine River could be established."

Unless someone's mansion is about to be expropriated, it pretty much has to be that pumping station or whatever it is at Ash and Wellington. Maybe that pipe crossing at Waverley? That seems much less likely, though.

I read that and found it funny also. Not sure why the public services requires 180 days to come up with a report when there are only 2 options.

Maybe they want them to check the tax records to see if there are any mansions that may be coming to the city via a reality tax foreclosure in the near future?

There is also a 45' wide road allowance at Harrow that lines up with Arlington, between 743 and 747 Wellington. Additionally there is a pipe easement between 925 and 937, but it is part of 925 and would need to be bought. It is one lot west of the feedermain bridge.

The bridge lot is too narrow to do much with. The lift station lot at Ash Street is 66' wide. It is the most likely option, I think.

There's the ROW at Harrow. This would be the spot for a ped bridge over to Arlington, but the residents would never allow that.
The feedermain at Waverley.
The ROW at Ash for the pump station.
And then teh park at the railway.

I'm assuming people use the Ash and Waverley ROW's to get down to the river. Not sure really what the purpose is here because everything is private property along the river.

Remember the hullabaloo over people biking on the street. Never mind the City trying to take people's property for some kind of pathway.

If people just want to get down to the river to put in the kayaks or something. The ROW at Harrow is good. Then I think probably the pump station would be the only option. But the neighbors again by Ash street haha. Aspers old property. The richest house in Winnipeg. Even though they been trying to sell for years. My dads old friend. He's an ass but super rich. Nortel Networks guy.

Down to $8.5 million now. IIRC it was listed for ~$12 million originally.

My go to for anything City of Winnipeg property related.
https://www.winnipeg.ca/ppd/maps_aerial.stm

Toggle the property lines and such on in the menu. Toggle on assessment and you can see property values, including the upcoming proposals for 2023. Some houses proposed to go up quite a bit. The one next to harrow by almost 200k.
