Interesting. Meanwhile, we all know how good Alternate Universe Ben Smith who instead became head of Air Canada (and moved to Man-Tray-All for it) would be in the language as of right now …

Air Canada was bought by Air France-KLM.

If I was to guess, I think he's pissed off over New Brisavoine's comparison of the travails of the francophone Quebecois to those of Black Americans (presumably from the deep south).

Big difference. The Quebecois are the large majority in Quebec, have full control over all the relevant levers of power in their jurisdiction, and, if anything, have assumed the roll of the oppressor, continually squeezing their former Anglophone overlords a little tighter and tighter every year, using the justification of past injustices as the pretext to squash and extirpate the rump anglophone population in Quebec into non existence.

Didn't I heard you complain about English access of healthcare in New Brunswick compare to French? Would that mean that the "oppressed" Anglophones get a better English service in French only Québec than you do in a officially bilingual province?

People in the Canada forum complain about it being an echo chamber (for the so-called 'left of centre'), and argue vociferously for the need to have all viewpoints represented. Those same people in this thread complain about people expressing different viewpoints, and seek to shut down the debate with grandstanding, belittlement, and the good ol' "you are not one of us..." [but somehow Brisavoine is?], ."..so you will never understand what makes us special".

Countering and challenging arguments is not the same as wanting them censored. Toxik did the former - countering and challenging.

And who said New Brisavoine is "one of us"? Though yes he is clearly an "ally" and a "friend".

I would consider him more of an "agent provacateur" than a friend or ally.

And how about you Acajack, do you still consider the Quebecois "white n****** of North America" (as they were alluded to in the 1960s)???

Because he strongly advocates for Quebec sovereignty (which is sort of "meddling" since he is not Canadian/Quebecois)?

the perception I have is that I am not an "ally" or "friend" (despite championing Quebec everywhere I go, and being a fiercely proud native-born son of the Province, and having my children in French immersion since kindergarten, and speaking french to them at home for several hours per week). I have actually been told that I am, defacto, an "enemy of Quebec". Because I am a Quebec Anglophone. Can you imagine if you, Acajack, were deemed an "enemy of Ontario" because of your Franco Ontarian heritage?

pisses me off immensely.

I should stay out of this thread, because nothing will ever change.

And people wonder why Harls made that remark.

I have to wonder whether nowadays some in the Black community might not challenge that analogy as insulting to their historic and lived experience?

Sure, but someone's still got the rights to the work as of right now. If there's anything that could be a decent "case", someone will try.

He'd find it normal, if the context justified such a remark.

(If I may speak for him.)

For a realistic example, if he bought a house in the northern exurbs of Bruxelles and moved there with his wife and kids, given that no one in his family speaks any Dutch/Flemish, I'm sure some of your distant cousins would deem him "an enemy", we don't even need an alternate/fictional universe to find an example.
