Just for purposes of organization/consistency, North Burnet Gateway is a specific area (burnet road north of 183), and these are 3 miles or so from it.

I don't know if there's a better thread for "South Burnet Road" area projects. Maybe we need one.

Posts moved. Here are renderings for 4811 Burnet. Came across them more than two years ago.

We probably do need a separate thread for the N. Burnet Road / N. Lamar Blvd corridor projects, given how many of them there are.

We need a separate thread for UT/West Campus more than anything. I'll get one going soon, biggest boom yet for the area. Here's a few more updates.

It's no secret that Dream Hotels has been planning for an Austin hotel. But according to this article it appears to be the Unscripted brand:

http://www.nwaonline.com/news/2017/j...eir-turf-2017/

From the article:

Quote:
The Dream Hotel Group hopes Unscripted Durham will be the first in a string of Unscripted hotels. A second property is scheduled to open in Flower Mound, Texas, in 2019, and discussions are underway for other locations including Phoenix; Austin, Texas; and Long Island City in N.Y.

I agree.

WWMIV suggested I take some aerials of the West Campus area with my flying camera since there is so much going on there. Listed below are some of his other suggestions, which I plan on flying over the coming weeks. If anyone wants to add to this list I am up for it. I need practice flying and am more than happy to oblige.

Suggested Aerials:

West Campus
Central South Lamar (Alamo Drafthouse)
Rainey Street
Eastern side of Downtown (Brackenridge, medical school)
East of I35/central core (aka Eastside)
Mueller
Riverside
Domain
Highland Mall
St. Elmo

Adding to the Riverside area, the Oracle construction would be neat.

Yeah, I was going to mention West Campus and definitely the Domain. I'd love to see some aerials of the Domain area showing the quasi-skyline that is starting to grow up there.

The Triangle is another area where I'm sure we'd all love to see aerials, as is (once construction starts) The Grove.

Would you also be down to do, if you're willing to make the drives, Downtowns San Marcos and Round Rock? The faux downtown plan for Cedar Park would also make for some good aerials of construction work once that starts. The Apple Campus off of Parmer is a little bit of density that would be cool to see from up high, but I'd like to hear others' thoughts on that one.

HomeAway should not let the downtown screen door smack them on the ass when they make their way north to the faux urban charms of the Domain. I guess they'll take their Snow Globe collection with them along with the "kitchen table". Click below for a soon-to-be nostalgic look at the online pitch they give prospective employees about the wonders of their current downtown Austin HQ/ https://www.homeaway.com/info/about-...ur-homeaway-hq

Except they've been VERY clear in the press that they aren't shuttering their DT office, or their South Austin office.

Quote:
HomeAway said it has signed a lease for the entire building, which will have 315,000 square feet of top-tier office space. HomeAway could start moving employees in by early 2019, including some who might relocate from existing offices.

Kim said the new office will accommodate more than 2,000 additional workers, many of which he expects to come from the local talent pool.

The new building will house HomeAway’s growing product and design, engineering and information technology teams, Kim said. The number of HomeAway tech workers in Austin alone has grown by 50 percent in the past two years, and the company continues to invest heavily in this area, he said.

HomeAway currently has locations downtown, in South Austin and in an existing office building at the Domain, which has about 750 employees.

While the new Domain tower will allow HomeAway to consolidate to a more centralized corporate campus, the company plans to maintain its presence in downtown, in South Austin and in its current space in the Domain.
I can't wait for new aerials of the Domain so that you can see just how wrong you are about the current and potential level of urbanity.

This article is about 1108 Nueces (at Nueces and 12th):

Quote:
An office building dating back the the 1950s will be demolished to make way for a more modern vibe that aims to appeal to professional services firms, nonprofits and trade organizations.

I'm inclined to agree with austlar1 on this one, but they are keeping their DT location which is great to hear.

I say home grown companies with HQ Downtown should stay in Downtown. It's the heart of the city. I would feel pretty upset if a home grown company decided to move completely out of DT. Don't have an issue with added offices at the Domain as long as they keep their presence at their iconic West End building.
