It certainly looks that way. Then again, the US has been using the B-52 bomber since 1955 (!) with plans to (maybe) replace it by 2038, so they might stretch out the life of a 747-8 based Air Force One to 50 years or so. Especially since it doesn't see the use that a commercial airliner does.

The current two plane Air Force One fleet has been in service approximately 30 years with the replacements being several years away from service.

One of the interesting speculations I saw in response to Trump's tweet about the cost is that perhaps a modified B21 could be used instead with a passenger area in place of the bomb bays. The thinking has some merit as it is otherwise a military speced plane which is where a lot of the 747-8 series costs come from. Your run of the mill 747-8 isn't hardened against EMP, equipped for government level secure communication and don't include anti-jamming and other countermeasures. The trade off being a B21 wouldn't be able to carry the same level of staff compliment as the 747 series meaning it would need to travel with a support craft. Now say you modify a twin engine jet into a support role included being a flying refueler for the B21 it could make sense. Put the most sensitive people in the B21 and the less sensitive (reporters, etc) in the 787.

Keep in mind that the B-21 itself may only have two engines.

And it's built to much tighter tolerances, requires computers to control an inherently unstable design, and for stealth reasons has the engines buried inside the hull - making an engine failure much more catastrophic. It's not your choice for passenger safety.

Do you happen to know which days are being affected for Vegas?

The skywalk from the Four Points to what used to be the old terminal appeared to be gone earlier today.

Could be temporary, Westjet just announced more frequencies from YYZ and YYC to a whole bunch of places so those routes listed were probably downsized to fill the expansion. On the other hand, Westjet is also starting off a low cost airline sometime soon so maybe those routes will be transferred over to the new airline with more frequencies.

Flair Airlines today announced the NewLeaf banner will be retired. The plan is to continue operating similar services but now under the Flair Airlines name.

^ They really need to work out a deal so that they can paint this on all of their aircraft...

To hell with stats, passenger loads and destinations - these are the real ideas that airlines should pay attention to.

That makes me doubt it's temporary. Westjet is becoming much more a hub and spoke carrier.

I dont fly often but booked a trip to Cancun in December. Was happy to have a direct flight on Westjet. They just switched it to connecting in Toronto. boooooo

I assume I dont have to retrieve my checked bags, right? Would I even have to change planes or is it a stop to pick up TO passengers and continue on?

I fly often. Bags are usually checked through to your final destination unless they advise you otherwise. I would check to make sure.

And yeah, sounds like you're in for an actual plane change. Toronto rarely implies simply "picking up passengers".

^ TUP will have to retrieve bags in Toronto on the return leg in order to clear Canadian customs... but on the way down they'll be checked right through to Mexico.

You're right, first port of entry thing. Unless of course the flight goes straight to YWG then you'd clear customs here. Funny I should forget that, just came home from asia and had to go through the motions.

Hello everyone! It also appears that westjet has canceled service from Winnipeg to Montreal according to their winter schedule! That is how pathetic they are. Still think air canada is bad?
