^ You're right, it's just a rendering. They didn't come out with the 17 yard end zones until after the renderings came out. I don't care about 17 yard end zones, it's just a little quirk in a league that used to be full of them. And anything to get out that toilet bowl aka Rogers Centre.

I wonder if we'll actually see the stadium that packed for Argo games..??

I'm still trying to figure out how the north end will work for Argo/TFC games

Maybe some massive contraption.. that rolls in and out off the fieldturf?

I'd be shocked if the first game isn't completely sold out. New stadium, and you can bet the ownership is giving Copeland the green light to promote the Argos more than ever.

The north end is being demolished - it's going to be a party patio - with some blocks of removable seats

And they will roll out the retractable stands for TFC?

I think they'll be more removable seats than retractable - the same for the lowest 6 rows of the south end. They use them at the ACC.

You can see them here in the bottom of this video showing the conversion from NHL to NBA configurations - starting around 1:07

If you ask me I think they should constructed stands with either loge seating or seats that are 20 yards long have them set up along the side lines for agro games and behind the net for TFC games. (I understand the playing field is 60 yards wide) but this would make up for 2/3rds the dead space and help make BMO feel like more of a closed in stadium for both teams. Or just build a patio for both teams that rolls forward for TFC games. I really hate the idea of just plopping down some tables and temp stands in the CFL endzone..it's so...Edmonton FC. TFC fans deserve better IMO. In all honesty I don't expect TFC fans to embrace the Argos, but I don't want the Argos to ruin the game experience for them at the same time so I hope between the 2 organizations they come up with something nifty for both fans.

It would be ideal if that north end have a roof. A party patio is a good idea on paper, but when the sun is beating down it may not be that appealing. This is where they need to think of something viable long term because these conversion can limit what you can do with that empty space. In San Jose they are building a massive bar at one end of the stadium. Just a big drinking space with much more going then just some tables.

I know Budweiser has that beer rig truck they park on the lane. Maybe team up with them and build some bar on wheels, combine two big rig trucks or use a bunch of shipping containers or something and get creative of how to make a interesting party patio that is still easily movable.

I get the feeling that the North end patio zone is going to be temporary while they figure out a more workable, permanent solution that will work for both TFC and Argo configurations. For the time being, the priority is on completing the roof and preparing for next year's Argo season and Winter Classic. Having the North end open for the upcoming season is easiest, and lowest risk, particularly if they did not have a good plan for how to configure it.

I'm curious to know how the quality of the Argos locker room will be? That will set the tone for the Argos experience at BMO. I also wonder if the Argo fans will be welcome to use the bars/clubs and lounges ect. that were built on phase 1 of the reno? I really hope the argos aren't treated like a secondary tenant renting the basement suite. I also hope the CFL fans aren't treated as secondary fans to TFC fans. (although CFL fans are probably more rowdy) keeping them outside might be a smart idea lol

TFC may be popular but the CFL has a lot of support in both Ontario and Toronto and should be treated as an equal tenant. The Argos aren't using TFC's Nor MLSE's Stadium. They are Using the city of Toronto's stadium

I don't see how they can be stopped from being able to buy boxes, access to club lounges etc - although we don't even know what is being sold to Argo fans at the minute. The only thing you can do at the minute is to put down a $50 deposit for next seasons tickets.

As for the Argo's dressing room - it's being built in the NE part of the stadium.

If I get a chance at the weekend - I'll do a photo tour of the stadium expansion

argos games will most definitely have access to the club lounges. the stadium is owned by the city. they expect MLSE to squeeze out every penny they can in terms of revenue for the tax payer. plus MLSE gets a cut of the profits as well when they sell the suites.

if the Argo's weren't getting access to suites and clubs they wouldn't be profitable at BMO. that's where the real money is.

The funny thing is, hasn't the new ownership TannenBell contracted with MLSE on some issues with running the stadium and team ie ticketing.

So as much as the Rogers part of MLSE might hate the Argos, MLSE has to report to their shareholders and they have to really work at making the operations profitable. Love it!

We can argue over how many or how few STH the Argos presently have but what I have been seeing in a few places is some people who are STH, instead of buying two season tickets are buying four or more.

Looks like the present ownership has learned lessons previous owners never did. Getting the rub from celebrities (Gretzky et al) and bringing up ex NFL stars (hacks) doesn't work. The focus has to be on the team and I wonder if they'll copy the 1970s model of what a team and fandom is all about.

That would be awesome. I have no doubt it will be top notch. Another question is in regards to hot/cold tubs, fitness romms and medical rooms ect ect. Does BMO have these facilities? or does the practice grounds have them? I know the bombers spared no expense with IGF for player facilities. New Mosaic will have this as well.

Really excited for this new era of Argos football about time they get proper
-CFL stadium
-Ownership group
-Practice facility

MLSE will make money from the Argos.

But its not a promise that Bell and Larry T. will make money from the Argos...

Rogers actually has the best position in the deal as they make money from MLSE operations. Bell and Larry T have to make sure the seats are filled and sponsorship dollars come in, all Rogers (MLSE) has to do is show up and run the show.

Yes of course Bell and Larry T. get a cut from MLSE, but Rogers is exempt from the risk of the Argos deal. That is the chief difference.

As long as people buy beers and food MLSE makes money.

Bell is a real winner here. They get 1/18th of the money they pay out in the TSN TV deal back which is 2.2M annually by my calculations although I don't know where all that money goes (40M/9= 4.4 - %50 = 2.2M ). They get 1/3rd of the money they pay in "rent/lease" or whatever you wanna call it back. And 1/3rd of any other MLSE profits Argo related. Plus half of any profits the Argos make in gate revenue ect. Not bad They may have been smarter to go at it alone. I know I could be way off because the TV deal revenue will most likely be used to pay the Argo's operating budget but If they become profitable enough that money could become cash in pocket for bell.

2013 article - "The deal with TSN, which runs from 2014 through 2018, is worth in the neighbourhood of $40 million per season, according to a league source.
That’s more than 2 1/2 times the previous five-year agreement, which was worth $15 million a year. That means starting in 2014, CFL teams can expect to receive more money from the league.
That’s good news for the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the CFL’s only money-losing teams. Cohon said the new deal should allow clubs that struggled financially in the past to become profitable while also enhancing franchise values."

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/fo...worth-40-million-a-year/article10053800/

Fast forward 2 years, Ticats reported a profit last season at a stadium that seats 24,000. So technically the Argos should be profitable at 24K give or take 1000.

I saw earlier today that the last span of the roof was starting to be installed on the East side of the new stadium, and now that Stormer put together a post in the Regina Stadium thread, I thought I'd just lift it from there to use here:

I wonder where the lights will go. If I had to guess I'd say midpoint of the roof but has anyone seen any renderings with lights yet? Not that it matters - its going to look great no matter where they put them.

Hung from the roof like at IGF would be my guess.
