If my memory serves me correctly, UNISYS wanted two floors, and wanted to put that sign outside of their two floors. That is bullshit. Any company can rent a floor or two in a trophy building and put their name on a building? That leads to questions like how many signs can you put on one building?

Comcast, FMC, etc can do it because they are lead tenants, and responsible for the building. UNISYS doing with two floors is crap.

I expect more from executive management of companies like that.

Developers are pushing once again to build a mixed-use apartment complex at the long-vacant corner of 2nd and Race streets in Old City. The latest iteration of the project includes 148 rental units, 28 parking spaces, 51 bike parking spaces, and more than 14,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor, according to site plans submitted to the Historical Commission’s architecture committee, which will review the project on Tuesday.

205 Race Street is a project of developers Jeffrey Brown and Greg Hill of Brown Hill Development. This is the group’s third attempt to develop the property. Since then, a zoning overlay was adopted by City Council that allows the project to be built by right, and the architect redesigned the building to keep views of the billboard clear. (Yes, that actually happened, and the billboard features prominently in the latest renderings.)

Yet, Pittsburgh allowed UPMC to put their puke sign atop the US Steel Building as part of their agreement to lease space. At the time they were only leasing five floors. I'm glad Philly pretty much told Unsys to go jump in the Schuylkill River. I do have a problem with corporate signs on top of too many buildings, especially if the buildings aren't even theirs outright.

Glad to see this being revisited, even though it's the umpteenth time. I think it's amazing that the billboard actually weighed in on the decision. Absolutely amazing.

I don't remember hearing the "billboard story". Can someone please share? Sounds scandalous.

Since I started posting on this website I have been a big fan of this project. That corner/area would prosper so much from development there. This development could add to the foot traffic around Colombus Blvd.

Hopefully we get more progress this time around.

I don't know how many employees they have out there currently but they will be consolidating with their (much smaller) Center City presence somewhere in CC.
Is Hill in 1500 market or in the Graham building next door on south 15th Street? I know they have a small presence here already but I presume everyone will be consolidating in one larger office.

Proposal for a decent sized apartment complex on Main Street Manayunk. Looks to be about 8 floors or so at it's tallest

This does not look like a swastika at all to me.

i like the sign just because it tells you stuff I want to know about construction projects in general. Often the permits are very vague and of course dont include renderings. This will come in handy. I just wont if its retroactive or if its only for new projects starting yesterday.

After reading that, it seems like a real tough project. Rents may not be cheap as there seems to be some additional cost associated to build. I like the location, hopefully they can get this going and turn some other vacant plots into the same. I know much of Manayunk is dense, but it is a cool area.
