We saw Julius Shulman pictures of Ralph Flewelling's Warren Lane School a few days ago. I assume there can't be too many architects with that name. This is "Job 4274: Flewelling and Moody, California Institute of Technology, Millikan Library (Pasadena, Calif.), 1967". As has become usual with these larger photosets, I've picked a selection of pictures.

An arty shot showing the lower floors.

The surrounding campus, complete with water feature.

The reception area and elevators.

One of the upper floors.

I've saved this shot until last. It shows the inside of the octagonal extension near the fountain.

All from Getty Research Institute

The library is still standing, and looks unchanged. Just out-of-shot at the top is the recently seen Beckman Auditorium.

I'm pretty sure the large building on the other side of the freeway is the Mode-O-Day building. (the large 'pylons' along the roof give it away)

I agree with t2....it does look like low benches in-between the stanchions.

below: You can see where it used to be attached (I think) -It looks too low....but it also looks low in the black & white pic above

I believe the original stairs from 1911 are still in place, despite being 106 years old!

Note the stairs in the following pics of a hypothetical building on the vacant lot behind 1669.

California Girl Inc made women's clothing. Their building at 1800 S Hill Street now looks like this (I included the Mode-O-Day building too).

Between 5th and 6th and from Spring to Main. All built over now. I think your bus is crossing Harlem Place.

I really think it's there to see if the Brinks truck arrived. This was built as a bank and cash transfers were a bit fraught. If you don't believe me just ask Mr Parkinson, he'll know :-)

My home is just beyond the upper left corner of the aerial view, but I marked the approximate location at the sign.

Note the multi-ethnic quality of the residents; poverty didn't discriminate, in this case at least. Is that a water heater on the porch? The fire marshal probably was not much in evidence in that neighborhood.

I doubted that the house was still there today, but I looked anyway. There is a Casanova near Elysian Park and Dodger Stadium, but there is no 700 block. I guessed that it might have been renamed "Academy Road" based on the street alignments, and that turned out to be the case. Here is a Sanborn map (1950):

And is now worth well north of $600K!

So the tenement achieved its 1951 decrepitude in only 25 years; and 66 years later, gentrification.
