In the new section of Westerra the furthest west section looks to be shaping up to be another apartment project. Has the look of parking, not a road in that corner, and the neighbourhood map shows it as a single parcel.
Thanks for the 11th Ave fly through. I don't feel too great about how all the pedestrian bump outs are going to affect traffic flow and parking/loading zones as well as bus lanes.

Also really sad to see all the dead mature trees on the west end. Also, I do not see any new tree cells between Lorne and Rose.

I know the planners are supposed to know better than the average person what we need, but I fear they are often out of touch.

As a cyclist I despise bump outs. Forces me to stay in a driving lane on Victoria the entire span between Broad and Albert. I rarely go that way as the traffic lights are annoying anyway preferring 14th going east and 13th or 15th going west, 12th isn't too bad either but the pavement is terrible west of Albert. With 2 way traffic, 1 driving lane and bump outs I wouldn't even consider 11th anymore, Dewdney will suck for that reason as well but maybe the yards will have a pathway the entire span of the warehouse district.

originally Dewdney was supposed to have a bike lane incorporated into the widened sidewalk. Not sure of the plan now.

After reviewing the 11th Ave Project renders, I feel better about the trees assuming the renders are accurate. The tree cells are perhaps just are not yet visible except between Rose and Broad.

Many more renders here:

A few sped up Imperial School demolition videos. I really should pick up an external battery charger for the drone so I can charge the first battery while using the second one. I'll see if they are still working after lunch once both batteries are charged.

3 videos from this afternoon and have 2 to process, I'll put them all in a playlist. Triggered a mentally unstable person by taking off in front of their house. So drove up the block and around the corner. BUT I left the drone hovering and recording where it had been for the next 25 minutes. I wonder if he noticed, it was about 60 feet up.

Love the 11th Avenue pan update. Thank you!

Would love the Dewdney Avenue work as well if possible.

This is just excellent!

These are much bigger and better than what they installed on the 18 Block Hamilton.

Sidewalk trees in Regina need a lot of help with drought and deicing salt- especially when they are first starting out and then again when they get very large.

Here is a splainer on Silva Cells. https://youtu.be/TRSly23B01c

I wonder if they City is taking advantage of their stormwater absorption potential.

To answer my own question, yes they are incorporating storm water absorption. At least they did on Lorne St in 2012. They also used Silva Cells on Dewdney.

It has been decades since a new major hotel was built downtown , ATL was the perfect opportunity for a build ,not sure why they passed to build in Regina

I do recall the reason why they never built was because they couldn’t find a suitable location to build, which is kind of strange. There’s empty parking lots everywhere downtown

I used 5 entire batteries today which is a record, though a decent length time lapse uses an entire battery. 22GB of files for today.

Youtube playlist for Imperial School Videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...53yEuk_6BBrsbe
Dewdney Warehouse District Flyby: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq-yIQsj5xo

A bunch more Imperial School demo pictures between last night, this morning, this afternoon and this evening. By the evening the Sun was too low to get anything but close shots in the shadow of the building.

Got some pictures of the Sears building for The mayor since it was inbetween the school and the Dewdney warehouse area. A few shots of Westerra, I think the entire area currently being worked on is for apartments and the building footprints have all been pre-excavated. The development map shows two parcels going from Horizons Way east to the north/south pathway. House lots would start east of the grass strip (not visible in the photo below but you can see the cleared area to the south which marks how far over it is), and probably a next year project. Map is here: https://www.westerraregina.ca/builders

Unlikely CR would ever build a hotel because the govt does not have the money for that and the proximity to other hotels make it impractical to compete.

Casino's new flat parking lot is supposed to be functional later this fall. (The parkade was ripped down earlier this summer).

The Windgate by Wyndham (on Broad & SaskDr) is about to be rebranded as Towneplace Suites by Marriot.

somewhat unrelated, but yesterday I was shown the site in Moose Jaw where a new hotel (Delta I think?) is being built downtown.

Last info was Hilton Tapestry Collection. The developers have received 5 year tax abatements. Former Brunswick Hotel site on River Street.

I am sure you are correct, and I was wrong. It was a big hotel name.

Took off from 12 different locations this morning. Still several days of Imperial School demolition left, not sure if they are working today since I was past there early. I didn't go over yesterday because it was so windy. East Reservoirs is getting a big retention pond in case they ever need to flush a bunch of water (something that might be necessary when they activate the pipeline from Pasqua Street). Some work in Eastbrook is heading towards Arens Road, I wonder if they will extend Arens to Anaquod this year.

While heading over to see if Imperial School demolition was continuing today (it wasn't), took a picture of some work at Regent Park. On the north Albert bridge they did two pours of bridge wall this week.
