Nutrien has 9 floors for about 350 at the Nutrien tower. I feel like with COVID they might just keep their existing space… maybe a small expansion to it via crazy ole North Prairie folks that originally planned a 30 story tower in the parking lot next to it prior to the delays of this mine. A company like BHP would do a tender process though, so maybe they’d move to River Quarry (that has plans to expand even though it’s still empty) or maybe this weird looking old Canada Blood Services building? All three of those developers seem to have some insight on commercial development downtown…. One of them must have a lead on BHP’s project to be retaining their commercial plans.
This new mine will have a ton of automation to it underground as well - engineers can be based in Saskatoon and driving equipment, running facility processes.,, the labourers are still there to maintain the equipment though, but less folks underground the safer it is.
I think the biggest noticeable benefit is indirect contractors and firms doubling their workforce to handle tendered projects for each piece of this mine as it gets built.
