Here's the beauty of it... nobody is forcing businesses to open that don't want to. They probably have more capital and can afford to stayed closed longer, which is just fine if that's what they prefer. Other businesses are in different situations and some need to open to survive.

okay. Why did you feel the need to say that? Should be quite obvious to any of us that a business opening (or not opening) is their decision at this point.

Some may have capital and perhaps own their buildings, eliminating the issue of rent. Some others have been vocal in calling for rent relief and other forms of government support. I have no problem with restaurants that have made a decision to delay reopening. Urging others to do the same seems too prescriptive, though. Like you say, every situation is different.

To make the point that the "Too Soon" movement is a matter of perspective. They can exercise their rights, but they shouldn't be pushing against others doing the same. "Too Soon" is really "Too Late" for many businesses unfortunately. If they want to or need to open and the public chooses to patron their business then everyone is consenting, kinda how it's supposed to work.

Looks like OHSO is coming to CenPho, just not Desoto Market. The 525 W McDowell Rd or the former Zoe’s Kitchen will be renovated into ‘The Little O.’

I guess the more surprising news is that Zoe's is no longer. When did that happen?

Caught me off guard, but another causality of these last few months, I guess. OHSO’s adjustment hearing is June, don’t think they’re wasting time moving in on this location.

It's still listed on their website, perhaps not updated yet. I ate take out from Zoe's several times in April. Happy for OHSO and the landlord but I'm just having a hard time understanding how this all happened so quickly.

Bummer not in downtown but great news!

I also did notice a new pending liquor license application notice at the old Zpizza Tap Room (Monroe Building) when I went out to get some Harumi Sushi yesterday. Listed as "Ramen Kagawa"

I’m looking for indications of this closure, I agree this is rather sudden. But I wonder if this location has yet to make an announcement. Hearing date is set for June 4th.

I would assume this is going to be a tap room with some food, but not a brewery given the small size.

That’s good news. The ramen place just a few doors down closed last year, so it will be good to have something downtown.

What's the ramen place called on Roosevelt that smells like sewer when you walk in the front door?

I haven’t noticed the sewer smell, but the ramen place on Roosevelt is called SoSoBa.

There's an asian restaurant here that smells like absolute foetid death when you walk by, like somebody dropped a tiger shark in downtown Phoenix during the summer and left it there for a month.

I suspect people might be sensitive to one of their ingredients.

I took clients there for lunch once and everyone commented when we walked in the door. We never went back and I was embarrassed all day.

Looks like it was updated this morning. They now list the McDowell location as closed. Bummer. I used to go to lunch there quite often.

Highly unlikely that Angel's in Arcadia will reopen. 50/50 whether Angel's downtown will reopen and if it does it might be a last gasp. Really sad. With the departure of the bike shop, the high probability that Punch Bowl will never open, and the possible closure of ATAH, that corner is getting rocked.

This makes me hella depressed. Angel's Trumpet is probably one of my favorite places in downtown. That brisket is to die for.

So basically, the Arts District is dying as we know it. Not to be political, but it's too bad the government can't like, ya know, help these small businesses out in a time like this. This sucks big time.

2nd and Garfield was recently discussed on this site as an emerging concentration of nightlife. Funny how life works out some times.

Illinois isn't allowing restaurants to resume dine-in until June 26 - at the earliest - which is going to decimate the industry. If Arizona took that approach I think Angel's would be the least of our concerns, they're going to lose 50% or more of their restaurants.
