That sounds familiar!

Also, I see people on NXT complaining about all the shops and restaurants that are closed in the CBD. I presume that’s in areas slated for development ? They talk like the CBD is desolate.

I think when they mean CBD they mean the old downtown not including Brickell or Bayside. It does get pretty quiet when you venture away from those neighborhoods. Worldcenter is making progress but it has that Hudson Yards feel of a work in progress island adjacent to the business district.

Yes, that’s what I meant. The CBD excluding Brickell. With the ongoing Worldcenter, 395 and Flagler St redo, I imagine the area is a construction zone that will see a radical turnover of retail.

All piles are now installed! To be exact there were 500, with most 160 ft in the ground. The largest pile is 190 ft which is about 18 floors.

The construction team is now uncovering all the piles for a construction pour. Next month you should see vertical construction.

Great news! What we lack in basements down here we make up for in piles

It's exciting to hear that Miami, after so many proposals, is so close to joining the USA Supertall Club.

I've never heard of a building with 500 piles.

500 *160 ft = 80,000 ft = 15 MILEs of PILES?!

No wonder it has taken so long.

Very exciting!

I like the design of this one. People almost had a heart attack when something similar was proposed for 2 WTC. But it will be iconic on thatcskyline.

I completely agree. Miami needs a recognizable building to differentiate it's skyline. This is perfect.

Do we have any drawings or other sources that tell us the actual number of floors? Just a rough count from that model above only comes to 80-something.

Taller buildings if engineered right can survive earthquakes. Think of Tokyo, San Fran, LA etc.

There is an active proposal in Seattle for a supertall. Maybe when interest rates drop...

Valid points there. I am sure there is a way to guarantee survival from quakes.
