Actually yes! One of my best girl friends is dating a guy from the Eastern Townships, just outside of Sherbrooke. He speaks really good English, but his mother-tongue is French. Great guy. A bunch of other friends of friends are French as well, I have met quite a few since moving here, but I suspect there are a lot more Quebecois up in Fort McMurray and the refinery's in Fort Saskatchewan and Edmonton.

Me thinks they've been too obvious with their insurance fraud.

Looks great! I hope someday they do a tasteful addition like that to the Palliser.

i was home in montreal for much of july and august this year (i also visited nova scotia, ottawa, and new york city). since i have been away, i have probably visited upwards of 25 new cities... including some truly great ones (istanbul, vienna, rome). montreal doesn't always "hold up," but in the canadian context, its residential density is its really superlative quality. inner-city streetscapes like these were really notable to me, and gave up little to even those of brooklyn. montreal has a lot of frustrating flaws, but it has the best residential bones in the country, and probably always will.
