the Ovation just got resubmitted to the city with minor changes to the facade materials. it looks like it's still a "go" at the latest proposed height of 23 floors and 246 feet, and was approved earlier this year. image from boisedev.com:

it's a shame the London hasn't moved forward. having The London and the Ovation a block apart would really have made an impact on the east side of downtown along Front.

The London is listed as a "vision" project on the architect's website, so i'm presuming it will not proceed.

IdahoBuildings2020 did a nice comp that shows the Saratoga, 12th and Idaho, Ovation and ICCU buildings added to the core:

Other approved proposals not included are the YMCA project and Dual Brand Hotel which could break ground soon.

Thank you for posting these photos-- it is great to see this development in Boise.

I was in Sun Valley about ten days ago. It is unfortunate the weather in the photos above looks like it is mid-October and not almost January. I hope it isn't a bad fire season this summer in Idaho with no snow.

it's not that unusual to have bare ground in the city this time of year, but there definitely should be more snow in the hills above town. the weather has been pretty mild, so whatever snow we got melted pretty quickly. Bogus Basin has had 50 inches of snow so far this year (which is below normal), most of which has already melted. they currently have a meager 17" base.

hopefully the incoming storms will provide some relief and good powder. Bogus had 352 inches of snow last year, so it's got a lot of catching up to do.

I kinda like it! More density is always a good thing and this seems like an appropriate-sized building for where it's located.

design review took place last night for the third building in the new YMCA project, a 7-floor residential building with retail on the first level. this did get approved. images were snagged from the review committee video.

this project has broken ground. it will take 2-1/2 years to complete, starting with the new YMCA building in the foreground. the 15-story building and two 7-story buildings will follow.

work has begun on the 15-floor, 296-room AC/Element dual brand hotel.

image from the Idaho Statesman:

this will be about 2 blocks away from the 26-floor residential tower currently under construction, a block from the 8-floor Hotel Renegade which is nearing completion, and 2 blocks from the 8-floor Saratoga, giving that part of downtown some good density.

work has also begun over the last month on the 13-floor/9-floor ICCU building and residential project on the east edge of downtown.
