Great. When I saw it boarded up, I worried that it would come down.

When I first started going to Palm Beach in the early 80s, WPB was a vile, disgusting slum. Now, it’s really nice and is a proper neighbor for Palm Beach.

The Cipriani Brothers Are Building West Palm Beach’s First Hotel-Branded Residences

Quote:
Following the success of the sold-out Mr. C Residences in Coconut Grove, brothers Maggio and Ignazio Cipriani have unveiled what will be West Palm Beach’s first-ever hotel-branded residences. The two have joined forces with Terra and Arquitectonica to build the 25-story Mr. C-branded condominium at 320 Lakeview Ave., which will include a 110-room hotel and 146 private residences priced at $2 million and up. The brothers enlisted Landscape Design Workshop to do up the grounds and Meyer Davis to curate the interiors and amenity spaces
Quote:
Residences at the swanky new tower will include one- to four-bedroom units ranging from 830 to 2,200 square feet. And depending on the floor, part-time residents and investors looking to defray expenses will have the opportunity to enter their home in the hotel’s rental program.
Quote:
The Ciprianis currently operate a Mr. C hotel in Miami, Beverly Hills, and New York City and have recently expanded their residential portfolio to include Dubai. Construction on the West Palm Beach project is expected to get underway early next year and is slated for completion in 2026. Douglas Elliman will lead the sales, which are anticipated to launch in November.

This has a new name and it's now officially on the developers protfolio: Fern & Gardenia

https://13fi.com/portfolio/fern-gardenia

Quote:
Two contiguous parcels in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida totaling 2.7 acres for the development of a 361-unit, 25-story multifamily rental high-rise building with 42,000 square feet of retail. The site benefits from its proximity to the West Palm Beach Brightline Station as well as high-end residential, office, and retail destination. The business plan calls for the delivery of a top-of-the-market project with condo-quality finishes and larger units. West Palm Beach is experiencing a transformative renaissance highlighted by significant employment, population, income, and rent growth. We are encouraged by this opportunity as very few remaining sites in the downtown area allow for such a large-scale development.

From the information I've gathered, the reason west palm beach doesn't build past 450 feet is because of the height restrictions, zoning regulations, and the pushback from some of the residents. West palm beach has had some great skyscraper projects proposed, but since the majority of the city and the surrounding area is made up of old and elderly people, they tend to oppose tall buildings, because in their words " we don't want to become another Miami". This is why most of these projects are not well favored by some of the community.

Do you feel like with the way the city is moving and more younger people are starting to move in that they will increase heights even more? Im down to go up haha.

I think that might happen but the influx of young people isn't big enough to really change height restrictions unless the old people start changing their minds.

It's practically next to impossible to build what Miami is building since Downtown Miami is about 7 miles from it's airport compared to 3 miles from downtown WPB to PBI. It makes a lot more sense to impose reasonable height limits in downtown WPB for the same reason that downtown Boston has height restrictions for the very same reason: proximity to the airport!

The height restrictions on Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and Tampa makes no sense since by the time a jetliner reaches those downtowns, it's already above about 10K ft in the air and if we're going to build something that tall, which I don't see happening until the year 2500, Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and Tampa can afford to build 1K+ supertalls in their downtowns since the runways aren't parallel going directly into their downtowns. Let's hope for the best!

PB is like that because it's always been a wealthy enclave, so they have a lot of power and a lot of say. I wouldn't change PB, though, it's a very nice town and it's nice that WPB is at least trying to raise it's height limits, albeit WPB has to do it with more sense due to the proximity of the airport.

ya i think that's why downtown cant build past 330 feet but the CMUD district can build around 390 - 400 feet

how come the city allowed one west palm? isn’t it like 426-460 ft tall? i understand the city made jeff add stuff to his buildings but why would they even allow that much height? i heard west palm point was gonna be 30-sum stories but the city turned it down cause of the height so the devs made it 24. i also understand the “zoning districts” i guess but it’s just annoying when i see a new building render and it’s just 25 stories or less lmao. im young so i just want my city to go up XD

It will be a 25-story building that will feature 456,000 square feet of office and 15,000 square feet of retail, which they expect will become the largest office building in downtown West Palm Beach.

Thank you for all the updates @Miles1800! New things added to the main development list - a mega development section and the newly proposed 515 Fern.
