I suspect that it's the same thing at that construction site.
In fact, some rock cuts are so weathered that contractors have to put rock bolts in.
Yes exactly. The further west you go more and more of the canadian shield peaks out the sedimentary units. The hill between bayshore and kanata was most likely an island when the Champlain sea was around.

Might be how they can afford such short buildings in an area that requires significant rock excavation.

Probably a lot less wood than would required to build the same number of units in the form of single family homes.

This one really adds a nice feel to this stretch of Kanata Ave. Does anyone know if the land across the street (north of the Best Buy parking lot) is developable? The sloped land and most of the parking lot are usually pretty empty in the summer and are used for snow piles / snow removal equipment staging in the winter.

If we could get a similar development across the street with street-level retail and some pedestrian cross-overs along Kanata Ave, it would completely transform that area into a pretty solid walkable experience.

According to the zoning map on Geo Ottawa - it's zoned MC10 - mixed use. So just about anything could be built there.

Thanks. Hopefully not another Dymon Storage (luckily there's already one of those a stone's throw away, but you never know).
